Built using their V-NAND 3-bit MLC flash technology and Elpsis controller, the 1TB 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD from Samsung offers an M.2 2280 form factor and a PCIe 4.0 x4 / NVMe 1.3 interface to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 7000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 5100 MB/s. Users will also have access to encryption via TCG/Opal 2.0 and MS eDrive, while a TBW (Total Bytes Written) rating of 600TB helps ensure a long operational life.

Samsung 980 PRO Internal SSD Reviews
Works Great
Purchased this to upgrade my HP ProBook laptop which only has a 3.0 interface so I could have saved a few bucks with the 970 Plus at the same speed. Still, it's a great drive and with the Samsung Magician software, it only takes a few minutes to clone a duplicate backup to another 2TB M.2 drive.
A solid go-to
I use Samsung M.2s in almost all of my builds, and the 990 series being released and helping bring the price on the 980s finally got me to open my pocketbook for this one on my newest machine. The heatsink version of the 980 series just looks better than the 990 series heatsink version, also - more understated and cleaner lines. And, of course, quality storage.
Super Fast
Used for my OS and it loads fast and never had any problems with a Samsung SSD
Fast and Reliable
This drive is fast and reliable, and relatively easy to install. I bought it as a drive to install video games on, it's been working out great. I am happy with my purchase.
The Perfect SSD

Screamingly Fast
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I need this 2TB 980 Pro for my PS5 internal storage. This thing is amazing. Runs fast and cool with no lag in game play.
Good quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this if you munsey ago and could not be happier with my ps5 now I have an extra Terabyte of space
An easy install
I bought this as I was having errors on my system. I have a 1TB off brand system drive already installed by the builder as well as a 2TB HDD RAID array that was actually a part of my system problem. After adding the 980 PRO the system was much faster. I've since deleted the RAID array and reformatted both drives and just using it for backups. The 1TB SSD is still installed as a backup system since it works fine. The 980 PRO is way faster all around. The install was painless even for my 70 year old brain. I love Samsung and have the 850 500GB SSD on my old HP laptop that I used for swimming pool design before retirement and it is really fast. Great products.
