Seagate Pro Internal HDD Reviews

Nicely packed, tight fitting in a sturdy box.

What a great, huge value. Forty years ago a 40 meg hard drive cost approximately 40 thousand dollars, and much slower access. I know, I worked as a tech for a major computer manufacturer. Now, it's crazy to see what the Chinese have taken to incredible levels of resolution. Also, really nice packing job by B & H. You will get a fast, nicely packed brand new item. Not somebody's return.

My Ironwolf Pro drives have lasted for years and years with every iteration. I expect the same from this monster as well. I have my previous 3 6 TB drives set up in a RAID for speed and they back up to this nightly. Perfect for my 4 bay drive enclosure.

Both HDD worked like a charm on Synology Ds1621+. Just started using it, but only for backup, not for day-to-day transactions.

I've had these installed in a new PC build for 4 months - they work perfectly. It's great to have enough room to not be worried about running out of space.

We put two of these into a Synology NAS, configured them for RAID1, and filled them to 60% capacity. So far, they seem to be working fine.

Works great with synology

very easy setup and so far so good! works as expected, it is a little noisy but I keep my synology in a drawer so I cant hear it, but if you have it next to you in your work station it will definitely make noise. The price was great and service was on point from B&H. I got this item because as a photographer I have so much data and files that I need to access remotely.

Quieter than expected.

I don't have an ultra-quiet setup, but have not heard a peep from these drives (ordered 2). I was disappointed to see they have 2TB less than advertised available to use, so expect to only have 14.5TB available to start with. I feel like they should advertise the capacity based on what's available to the end user to use. It's definitely misleading. I did hear a few clicks when first fired up, but quiet since. It seems under certain rare conditions, these will make noise when they want to, but have not had an issue with noise otherwise; I only hear my fans. I use them in a RAID 0 config as Plex movie storage. B&H shipped quickly and the drives were packaged well. I will definitely order from B&H again.

Are there any there any microwaves in any of the larger drives (16-18TB)? If so, do any of them leak out; are there any health concerns? (Toshiba and WD have been talking about their use, recently.)

I intend to hook up 4 of these as part of a RAID 0 array to boost performance speeds while doing photo editing and graphics intensive work. Is this ideal for RAID 0, or are they better options out there? WD Black or Seagate Barracuda Pro perhaps?

The Seagate 6TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (Retail) BH #SEST6000N000 is a good option for a RAID array and although they are designed as NAS drives, they would work in a desktop environment just as well. The Barracuda Pro and WD Black would also be good options and designed specifically for desktop use.
