I have always used a Sony Xperia ever since 2012 and I have to say every phone is a real upgrade to the previous generation (unlike apple). I had the Xperia 1 ii before and this one has a superior camera and battery life I must say. Love it

Great Used Deal

I've had my eyes on this for a long time but price was too high. I got it for below $800 used from B&H super good deal. I'll be honest what sold me is that this is a big flagship with a headphone jack and SD card. (thanks Samsung and Google). By far not a perfect phone like battery not great not bad though also no 4k 60fps video recording in basic mode you need to use 21:9 in the cinema mode. that was pretty disappointing. Super fast though open apps extremally fast and is super smooth with a gorgeous 4k 120hz screen. I came from a S9+ and i don't know what's about it but this screen I really like. overkill 12gb of ram will help it last a long time as well as 256gb or storage.

I bought the phone mid march and by may it wouldn't even turn on. I don't know if it was the display or something internal but I was watching YouTube then the phone shut itself off and after that became unresponsive. It was a great phone... for two months.

Sony Xperia 1 iii ROCKS in Can

For some reason Sony Mobile phones are hard to come by in Canada. The big wireless providers seem to only sell Chinese phones, Apple and Samsung. Some grey market sellers have Asian versions of the Sony Experia 1 iii however B & H has the North American version that works on Bell Mobility and Rogers 5G and 4G towers. The Sony phones blow Apple and Samsung out of the water in my opinion. Thank-You B&H for hooking Canadians up with this great phone. Shipping to Ontario Canada was only 2 days and no hassles with import fees. Cheers!

Better than iPhone

iPhones are great; I used to have one. One thing that bothered me was that stupid notch on the display, and to a lesser extent strongly rounded corners, but I was trying to ignore those. When I decided to switch away from iOS, I was looking for a device with a large OLED display, with a standard resolution at least 1440p, and without notches or holes. I used to own Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, which was way ahead of iPhone 6 Plus that existed at the same time, but Windows 10 Mobile was dead; I hate Google for contributing to its death by not releasing a YouTube app for it. But Lumia really set its mark and I was also looking for a device with a 3.5 mm jack port, and dedicated camera shutter button. I hate Apple, by the way, for making it hard to switch away from their ecosystem. I owned for a while the Children Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Pro, but being Chinese design is less well-thought, and quality control not sufficient; I am not referring to after sales support at all. I had seen the Xperia 1 II earlier, but was trying to get a larger display. When I accepted downgrading to a sub-7 device, I got Xperia 1 III. This was my best decision. Sony's quality and attention to detail is unrivaled. It is worth every penny. The display is made for 4K UHD movies. The 3.5 mm jack is still actual in the audiophile world, which I am a part of. Dedicated camera shutter button is so convenient. There is so much more to this device that I will let you discover on your own. Shortly, I was a long-sought upgrade from Lumia 950 XL, I did not want to settle with less. Thank you, Sony, for creating such a great product, and continue what you are doing!!!

The Big Picture

I have read so many reviews about this phone, the good and the bad, so lets go with the good first, Design is Cyberpunk! with a art deco, I just watch A Nightmare on Elm Street and the screen looks like you are watching a little pocket size movie theater, 4k at it's best! Speakers sounds great, but really what can you complain about it's a cell phone. Battery life is good, it last me a day it just depends on what you are doing on a daily.I think for a novice this is a great way into learning photography, And really what phone these days have a headphone jack and a SD card slot. Now the only Bad to me is the front cam it's bad! But in a sunlit environment you can get a pretty ok shot. Even so this is last year model I would still recommend this phone if the price is right.
