Designed for both solo use by independent creators and dynamic pro video capture, the Ronin 4D from DJI is an innovative all-in-one camera/gimbal solution. The "4D" designation refers to the Z-axis (vertical) stabilization built into the X9-6K camera and the four-axis gimbal stabilization. Constructed from lightweight carbon fiber and an aluminum/magnesium alloy, this system is ideal for independent content creators, indie filmmakers, and event videographers. The full-frame capture at rates up to 6K60 in Apple ProRes 422 HQ and Ronin's CineCore 3.0 image processing system with ACES workflow support also suits the 4D as a "B" or 2nd unit camera for larger cine-style productions.

DJI Ronin 4D 6K Reviews
Ronin 4D-6K // Must use firmware v01.05.1802 or higher!
By NICHOLAS
Rated 4 out of 5

As of this writing, I urge all users to update their camera to the latest firmware of v01.05.1802.
This version is the most stable.
For one, SSD fragmentation caused by filming ultra slow motion (above 60fps) has been solved. Prior to this firmware version, it was very easy to invoke disk fragmentation, when this happens, you can no longer use the card and need to change cards or else all footage recorded there after cannot be used. Note that all footage recorded before fragmentation is still safely intact.
You can also record until the disk is completely full without dropped frames.
Another improvement is support for larger than 2TB media. I tested a Samung T7 Shield 4TB and it worked no problem.
I also tested a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB in a USB-C enclosure and that worked too.
The Ronin 4D-6K loses one star because DJI forces us to use their PROSSD 1TB to record in Prores RAW. This is ridiculous as CFexpress B is fast enough to record all of their Prores RAW.
I personally prefer BRAW over Prores RAW as I prefer to use Davinci Resolve and don't plan on investing in an Apple SOC Mac.
The USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 is also fast enough as that connection tops out at a theoretical throughput of 625 MB/s.
Prores RAW in the 4D-6K tops out at 436 MB/s and the 4D-8K tops out at 536 MB/s.
It also loses one star because DJI has not activated the Phase Detection Autofocus points which are present on the sensor and instead are forcing us to use Lidar.
I personally prefer Phase Detection over Lidar because it is more flexible (Lidar is limited to up to 10 meters).

There seems to be the ability on the DJI site to buy a pro EZRA license for about $900.
If anyone has had experience with raw recording with this camera, I would really appreciate hearing about it

Can I use this with an Easyrig Minimax?
Can I use this with an Easyrig Minimax?
Asked by: Amanda
The mounting point on the Ronin 4D handle is too much to the back (Center of gravity is completely off).
You can use the original Easyrig Camera hook to mount it to the front of the handle, which covers then the buttons on the handle - so that wasn't a solution for me.
My solution was to mount a Tilta Ronin 4D top handle and mount the easyrig quick release camera mount in the second mounting hole from the front.
My Tilta Ronin 4D handle was too long, the camera brackets hits the handle - I had to grind down a couple of millimetres. So not perfect either.
The z-axis is not working perfectly, if I use the camera on the Easy Rig - there is some jumping up and down. Its better when I release a little bit of the tension on the Easy Rig..
