HP Chromebase Reviews
Gift to a friend found it too complicated
He has had the unit for three weeks now though has yet to complete setup, finding the instructions to be hieroglyphics. The reviews seem to indicate setup in ten minutes. Other reviews including PC Mag were positive; that and the fact it was all-in-one, like an iMAC plus a recommendation from my go to guy at B&H (and a discounted price) seemed like a good deal. Will cast my final vote after I can get a chance to check it out myself.
Absolutely perfect!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This HP Chromebase 21.5" touch-screen all-in-one is an absolute life saver! It's small enough to fit on a regular size desk but holds a whole lot of power! It's fast and reliable and not to mention very easy to set up and use. The way the monitor is able to swivel makes it so much more convenient for online learning or work meetings. I could hardly believe that a whole computer could fit in such a nice convenience size. I absolutely recommend this HP Chromebase to everyone!
Fantastic
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This HP all in one desktop computer is fantastic, as the title says. It was very easy to get set up. I loved that even included the batteries for the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It works great. We love being able to rotate the screen and also love that it is a touchscreen.
Nice!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Chrome Base Looks amazing...the screen is large, the tilt/Rotate screen function works great. Myself and My kids have been using it non stop for Youtube and surfing the web. the included wireless keyboard and mouse linking right up out of the box have been working like a charm. The downfall however, was found when my kids wanted to play some of their games they usually play on their Fire Tablets. This great looking machine is painfully slow, beyond basic surfing the web. In our house it'll be used for YouTube and web surfing, so not a big deal here. But if you are looking for something to replace a tablet, or standard desktop computer, you may have to look somewhere else. I would buy again, but i am gonna dock a star for the poor performance
Great versatile all-in-one
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The HP Chromebase 21.5" Touch-Screen All-In-One was easy and straight-forward to set up in less than 5 minutes. It fits easily in the corner of your desk at less than 8 inches deep. I really like the ability to pivot the screen 90 degrees to read or work on portrait documents and spreadsheets. I can even play games meant for phones in the portrait view. The screen tilts back 20 degrees but there is no height adjustment. The back of the ChromeBase features the power button, a headphone jack, two USB-A, and two USB-C ports. I was able to successfully use an external monitor using a USB-C to HDMI port hub. The native resolution is 1920 x 1080. The color and clarity of 1080p videos at 60fps look fantastic. This is great for watching movies and basic photo editing. There is a slide switch at the top of the monitor to cover the web camera and slide it over more to turn off the microphone for use during video chat. The camera and microphone’s quality are good for basic video chat needs. The keyboard feels a little bit too small but your hands will adapt to it after several hours of use. The keyboard has a few different hotkeys including fullscreen, brightness, and volume controls. My only gripe was that the keyboard doesn't have a Delete key but I discovered that if you hold Alt while pressing Backspace it does the Delete function. I am thankful for the ChromeBase having a touchscreen as I accidentally turned off the Bluetooth and I couldn't use my mouse or keyboard. The function of the touchscreen is as expected but I personally won't be using it often. The sound is impressive but you don't notice much stereo spread because the speakers are located in the base. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of low frequencies in the sound, it would have a more balanced sound if it had more bass. There is a quick volume up and down button located on the right side of the base. It multi-tasks with ease and the snappiness of switching between Apps is not slow at all. I can listen to Google Music or Youtube in the background, or use the Picture-in-Picture feature while I work in other Apps. This ChromeBase came with 4Gb of RAM and I don't see any effects of it being exceeded with normal use. The internal storage is 64Gb and I believe that will be sufficient for normal use. There are not a lot of Apps preloaded in the ChromeOS so you can download them through the Google Play Store to suit your needs. I appreciate that because I can install Apps that I need without uninstalling unnecessary Apps or bloatware. I am disappointed that the ChromeBase does not have an Ethernet port which is my preferred method of connection for all my computers. But that can be remedied using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter if you don't want to use WiFi.
Great Features
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is actually a really cool desktop. It's sleek design allows it to not look bulky and looks just like a monitor without extra pieces. The rotating screen to go from horizontal to vertical is really neat. The privacy switch allows for prevention of accidental video sharing and is a must for working from home. Multiple port options allow for integration with all devices. The touchscreen makes it easy for my kids to use it when they don't want to use the mouse. It's a great family computer that I don't mind having out in the open.
Wonderful
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This HP all in one desktop computer is wonderful. We love the touchscreen and especially love being able to rotate the screen to make it more like a tablet. This computer works perfectly for our needs. So far we haven't had a single complaint, it truly is a great machine.
Amazing Machine!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had the chance to use my HP Chromebase All in One computer for about a couple months now and this computer is fantastic. Setup was so simple, all I had to do was pull it out of the box and plug it in. The quality of 21.5" touch screen is impressive and beautiful. The rotating screen makes it easy for me to read news articles and blog posts so easy when its rotated vertically. The overall operating system is fast and pages load within seconds and downloads are quick as well. I love that i can have a profile setup for me and one for my daughter that I can monitor. With the current times my daughter is doing virtual learning for her middle school and we have had no issues doing zoom calls for her classes. The fact that I can turn off the webcam and the microphone with just one button on the top of the chromebase makes me feel secure and i love that i can control it easily with one hand. I can also charge my other devices with the ports in the back, it supports both usb or usb-c. The speaker quality is impressive for being located in the actual base as well. Overall this Chromebase is such a powerful machine.
