The system features the Apple M1 Pro 8-Core Chip, which provides the power and performance needed to handle your professional workflows. The 14.2" Liquid Retina XDR display features a 3024 x 1964 resolution, 1,000 nits of sustained brightness, 1,600 nits of peak brightness, P3 color gamut support, and more. With up to 1TB of SSD storage, you'll be able to load massive files and launch apps quickly, enabling you to work with photo and video libraries from almost anywhere.

Designed for All Types of Creatives
Apple M1 Pro
Packed with 33.7 billion transistors, the Apple M1 Pro integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). Built with 5nm process technology, the Apple M1 Pro delivers the performance you need without sacrificing power efficiency. The 8-Core CPU features six performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. The 16-Core Neural Engine provides support for on-device machine learning acceleration and improved camera performance. The M1 Pro offers up to 200 GB/s of memory bandwidth as well as support for up to 32GB of unified memory. The efficient architecture of M1 Pro means they deliver the same level of performance whether MacBook Pro is plugged in or using the battery. The M1 Pro also features enhanced media engines with dedicated ProRes accelerators specifically for pro video processing. With up to a 16-Core GPU, the M1 Pro delivers up to 70 percent faster CPU performance than the M1.
14.2" Liquid Retina XDR Display
Featuring mini-LED technology, this MacBook Pro houses a 14.2" Liquid Retina XDR display. Delivering up to 1,000 nits of sustained, full-screen brightness, a high 1,600 nits of peak brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a billion colors, the Liquid Retina XDR display can handle the extreme dynamic range of HDR content, providing detailed shadows, brilliant specular highlights, deeper blacks, and vivid colors. The display is less than 4 mm thin, which is achieved by having seven films and diffusers that mix and shape the light efficiently. The oxide thin film transistor (TFT) allows pixels to charge twice as fast as before.
ProMotion - Up to 120 Hz Refresh Rate
With ProMotion technology, the MacBook Pro automatically varies the refresh rate to match the motion of your onscreen content. This helps preserve battery life while also making tasks feel more fluid and responsive. This means that the display can have up to a 120 Hz refresh rate. Video editors will also have the option to lock in a refresh rate that is optimal for their footage.
P3 Wide Color Gamut
The narrow-band LED-powered backlight allows the MacBook Pro to represent the P3 wide color gamut for brilliant, true-to-life color in photos and videos.
Storage - Bring Your Whole Studio with You
The MacBook Pro can be configured with up to 8TB of SSD storage so you can take your photo or video libraries with you no matter where you're headed. And with superfast speeds, massive files load in an instant and pro apps launch in a blink. This particular model comes with a 1TB SSD.
Thunderbolt 4
Thunderbolt 4 combines ultra-high bandwidth with the versatility of the USB Type-C industry standard to create one revved-up universal port. It integrates data transfer, charging, and video output in a single connector, delivering up to 40 Gb/s of throughput for twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 2. The MacBook Pro is equipped with three ports, so you can do all of that from either side. Existing devices are easily connected with a cable or adapter. And Thunderbolt 4 is reversible, so no matter how you plug in, it's always right side up.
MagSafe 3
MagSafe 3 makes connecting a power cable quick and easy while also protecting your MacBook Pro. Apple also brings fast charging to the MacBook Pro, allowing you to charge up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.
High-Fidelity Audio
Spatial Sound Speakers and Better Mics
The MacBook Pro features a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system, which has two tweeters for a clearer soundstage as well as four force-cancelling woofers, resulting in 80 percent more bass. The sound system also supports spatial audio, providing a three-dimensional audio experience, whether you're listening to music or watching a movie in Dolby Atmos. Apple also has studio microphones that have a lower noise floor, resulting in clear calls as well as voice recordings.
Full HD 1080p FaceTime HD Camera
Now with a Full HD 1080p FaceTime HD camera, the MacBook Pro uses the ISP and Neural Engine in M1 Pro and M1 Max for computational video that enhances video quality.
System Navigation
Physical function keys are back with the Magic Keyboard on the MacBook Pro. Replacing the Touch Bar, the familiar, tactile function keys have made their return. There is even a wider ESC key.
Touch ID
The Touch ID enables fast, easy authentication for secure logins and purchases.
Force Touch Trackpad
Speed your workflow with Force click and multi-touch gestures.
All-Day Battery Life
From pro workflows to everyday tasks, the MacBook Pro delivers power efficiency while still maintaining performance. The MacBook Pro can deliver up to 17 hours of video playback.

Apple MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro 8-Core 2021 Reviews

Mixed feelings - Not built tough like older MacBooks

I had to buy this because my old MacBook Pro died when I did the software update. This one feels flimsy compared to my old one (a Late 2012). I use it in a professional production environment and I'm worried it won't take the rigors of the job like my old one did... but fingers crossed. Also, I prefer the old aluminum color to the new Space Grey, as it just looks dirty. That being said, it's very very fast. Web pages load crazy fast and things happen very quickly when opening files or moving between different programs. The speakers are an upgrade and have much more bass in them, the camera is very good for Zoom and FaceTime, and the screen is really nice, super crisp and brilliant colors. Lastly, I wish Apple would quit changing their connectors, with no USB-A I'm really having a struggle. I'm in dongle/hub hell now.

Bought this after I had to return a 2015 15" MacBook Pro to a former employer. I wish Apple still offered a 15" because it was the perfect screen size. Alas, I had to choose between the 16.2" and 14.2". 16.2" felt like overkill and 14.2" seemed a tad small. Ultimately, I bought the 14.2" with more memory and spent some of the savings on a nice 32" external monitor and an external 2 TB HDD. I've found that 14.2" is big enough for the few times a week I actually have the computer in my lap and it will probably fit better on an airplane tray table without annoying my seat mates. I've only had this laptop about three weeks so I haven't had a chance to really push it but it's handled some Premiere Pro and Photoshop work just fine. If you're coming to the 2021 MacBook Pros from an older machine, be aware that there are no USB-A ports. So you'll need an adapter for older thumb drives, wired mice, etc. i used to prefer a wired mouse because of Bluetooth lag but that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. I also learned the hard way that even with a Thunderbolt 2-toThunderbolt 4 adapter, my trusty old Cinema Display isn't compatible with the new laptop. Supposedly, there's a converter cable that works but it's on back order until late November. Will keep it in the closet until then and see if ai can use it as a second monitor. There's only one HDMI port so if you want a second external monitor, you'll need an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. All in all, so far, so good. if it holds up as well as my 2015, I'll be satisfied.

This is my first Apple product and I am very impressed. I recently bought a new Dell Desktop with Intel i7 and 64GB of memory. This MacBook Pro with 16GB memory is actually faster with Photoshop, Lightroom and 4k Video editing. I was always hesitant to buy Apple because of the price, but I will now be looking into getting an Apple Desktop. This MacBook Pro is a work of art and handles all my editing needs quickly. I am also impressed at how cool it runs. Highly recommended.

Much better than the Macbook Air M2

I originally ordered the Macbook Air M2 (midnight blue) directly from Apple and used it for a few weeks. I do a lot of photo editing in Lightroom Classic and video editing in FCPX (color grading 4k footage). I noticed the Macbook Air M2 was laggy and couldn't keep up with my workflows. I returned the Air and ordered this Macbook Pro from B&H for just a couple hundred dollars more. I am so glad I did! This thing keeps up with my editing, has more ports, wayyy better speakers, a better screen, etc. I have the base model but added the 1TB hard drive. I don't need anything more than this!

Speedy, light weight, love it.

Hardware might good and functions etc but it looks like a common PC laptop, metal cover is thinner than the models precedent, it doesn't feel solid and sturdy as usual. Investment in design has decreased noticeable
