A fine product that should be included with the battery

This battery chamber cover works fine, I'm just frustrated that Nikon doesn't make them built in to the battery. The Z9 is a camera built for pure, raw speed. But Nikon expects us to fiddle with a battery cover every time we change the battery, in the middle of a shoot? Ridiculous. I had to pick up a cover for every battery I have for my Z9, so I won't miss a shot as I try to put a cover on the battery.

I attach these to my spare batteries and keep them in my bag when for ready use. Having this on the battery already allows me to change the battery with just one hand, as opposed to having set the camera down and separate the used battery from the cover and attach it to the new one. May not seem like much, but when out and about, there's not always a good place to set the camera down. I have one of these for each of my spare batteries. I would recommend it.

In the past I always had to load batteries into a carrier, and then slip it into the battery pack and close the latch. But with this adapter, the larger battery (used in the Z9) can be attached to the battery in advance. When needing to change batteries, voila! Slip the old battery out, slip the new one in...each with its own BL-7 cover! I suspect this also allows for a larger battery, as there is no additional hardware in the compartment. Nikon put a great deal of though into this one!

So can this cover be used with the EN-EL18c batteries (those batteries that can be used in the D850 camera) ? Will the EN-EL18c batteries work in the Z9 ?
BL-7 cover is unique to the Z9 only. The EN-EL18x batteries are physically the same so it should work with EN18x. Electrically the 18d is higher capacity and charges in-camera. The 18c maybe works in Z9 with or without in-camera charge but lower capacity. Be forewarned, like the Z's and EL15's, some or all of the 18c/18b/18a/18 batteries may not be recognized by the Z9.

Understood that the Nikon BL-5 Cover only works with the D850 and the new BL-7 Cover only works with the new Z9.
Can the "The Nikon BL-7 cover" be used with the EN-EL18c batteries (the EN-EL18c batteries are used in the D850 camera) ?
Will the EN-EL18c batteries work in the Z9 with the Nikon BL-7 cover ?
The supplied BL-7 works fine with the EL18c batteries, I have used it for a week with no issues, I haven't tried it on the EL 18 b or a yet.

what is the purpose of purchasing this item seperately, when it is included in the camera?
You will need to remove the old battery from the door and reattach it to the fresh battery. Assembling parts can be time consuming when you need to change batteries and get back to shooting.
