RODE AI-MICRO Overview

Swiftly record two-person interviews, podcasts, and vlogs straight to your smartphone, tablet, or computer with the RODE AI-Micro ultracompact audio interface and your trusty 3.5mm equipped microphones. Pocket friendly and bus powered, the AI-Micro is perfect for keeping your setup small and simple while maintaining quality, and enjoying convenient optimization and expanded functionality through Rode's suite of popular apps.

The interface's two mic inputs are auto-sensing jacks, allowing them to accept signal from a broad range of TRS/TRRS microphones without needing additional adapters. Monitor the live signal or playback via the built-in, zero-latency headphone port, and connect to virtually any mobile device or computer with the supplied USB Type-C, USB Type-A, and Lightning cables.

Record Two Mics at Once
With two mini-jack mic inputs and a USB Type-C output, the AI-Micro lets you simultaneously record two mics to your computer or mobile device at up to 24-bit / 48 kHz digital resolution. It's ideal for interviews, podcasts, live streaming, and more. Alternatively, input 1 can be configured as a single stereo TRS input for use with stereo microphones.
Auto-Sensing Inputs
The two 3.5mm inputs are auto sensing and detect whether a TRS or TRRS microphone is connected, automatically switching to accommodate a wide variety of separately available mics such as the SmartLav+, Lavalier GO, RODELink Lav, any VideoMic with 3.5mm outputs, and more.
Built-In Headphone Output
The AI-Micro also features a high-quality 3.5mm headphone output for zero-latency audio monitoring and playback.
Universal Connectivity
Thanks to the supplied cables, the AI-Micro can connect seamlessly to USB Type-A, USB Type-C, and Lightning devices. Use it with your Mac/Windows computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone/tablet.
App Support
It is compatible with the Rode app suite including Rode Central, Rode Connect, and Rode Reporter, for accessing expanded features and functionality, on-the-go configuration, and broadcast-quality recording on any device.

The only audio AI input that really works with iPhone Pro Max 15 so far but in order to make it work, you will need a few things First USB-C Hub with at least 3 to 4 inputs with PD 90 charger built in Second, you will need a USB-C input output battery any Sony FP970,980etc… Rode Ai is fantastic ! The advantages of the audio unit first of all is that you can monitor& hear The sound coming from the iPhone in real time you have two inputs for audio it can be a shotgun, Mic, or any transmitter from any company such as Sony ,Sennheiser DJI Rode or any other Bluetooth device You have 3 apps in that u can download to your phone they basically give lots of options for sound settings from mono to stereo and more basically you can really rig your iPhone for professional video no sweat I highly recommend black magic software it’s the most pro software I have seen in years I wish I could have that software in my 6.5k A1 camera

Useful for Zoom Tours

Incredibly useful device for running school tours on Zoom. Our school principal stands far away from me while I'm filming and that could make it hard to hear him over Zoom. Pairing this with a Rode Wireless Go made it so everyone could hear him. I was able to plug in headphones to monitor not only what the principal said but what was being said in the meeting as well.

The best way to do that would be to connect (2) Rode Go II receivers, directly to each of the USB-C ports on your laptop and the Rode Connect App will allow you to control all 4 mic channels separately. You will also be able to provide compression as needed to each channel, as well as Rode's Aural Exciter and some other features. The best way to use (4) mics with the Rode AI-Micro, would be to use (2) AI-Micros connected to each of the USB-C inputs on your computer and you would have 1 mic connected to each of the 4 inputs. Rode Connect App will allow you to control those 4 mics separately.

What software do you use for this for Android? Rode does not have an Android version of their Reporter app.

The Rode AI-Micro Ultracompact 2x2 USB Type-C Audio Interface is compatible with the Rode app suite including the Rode Central, the Rode Connect, and the Rode Reporter apps. The Rode Central app is compatible for use with Android 9.0 and above. The Rode Reporter app is now available for both iOS and Android devices. The Rode Connect app is currently available only for Mac and Windows computers.

Could this be used to connect a sound recorder with an output line to a Mac? Looking for a way to not record voice overs everytime in my tascam and then transfer via SD. Would this make my setup an external microphone for mac?

The Rode AI-Micro Ultracompact 2x2 USB Type-C Audio Interface is expecting a Mic level signal and may not accept a Line level signal from a device appropriately. If the device output you are using can be attenuated to Mic level, it stands a good chance of working with the AI-Micro as desired.

Would this work to connect my new PodMic USB connected directly to my Fujifilm X-S10 via the mic jack connection?

The RODE AI-Micro USB-C Audio Interface is used to connect 3.5mm microphones to the USB-C port on a computer or smart phone. It cannot be used to connect a USB microphone to an analog input on a camera.
