Zhiyun-Tech Crane-M3 Overview

Small, lightweight, and fashionable, the CRANE-M3 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer from Zhiyun-Tech is designed for compact cameras, smartphones, and action cameras. The compact design allows you to freely maneuver your camera for longer periods of time, and it's also easy to pack up with you when traveling. New features include an integrated fill light with color filters and adjustable color temperature, a fashionable white exterior, a 1.22" full-color OLED display, PD quick charge, eight hours of runtime, and an even faster quick release baseplate.

The CRANE-M3 offers 360° pan, 309° tilt, and 333° roll rotation across seven modes of operation, including follow, pan-follow, POV, portrait, GO, lock, and Vortex modes, and it can also be adjusted manually if required. It runs for approximately eight hours using its built-in 1150mAh battery that's rechargeable using an included USB Type-C cable, and you can also power the gimbal using a power bank while operating the gimbal. The color OLED display confirms the selected operation mode, battery level, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi status, and other functions. Scale marks and memory locks help you balance the camera and lock the balance position for the camera used.

Over built-in Wi-Fi, the gimbal can sync up with a Wi-Fi-enabled camera that supports remote zoom, shutter, and video start/stop control, or you can utilize a camera control cable and the USB Type-C port on the baseplate to control the camera shutter and also power the camera. Over built-in Bluetooth, the camera syncs up with a free-download ZY Play mobile app for iOS and Android for additional capabilities. The app provides remote control over many functions of the gimbal and has filmmaking features such as time-lapse, panorama, and slow-motion capture. The integrated LED light allows you to utilize a fill light for your subject without the requirement of external lights.

Compatibility

Fill Light Filters

Multiple Gimbal Modes

Low-Light Performance

A built-in CRI 90+ LED fill light for reducing image noise allows you to shoot in dark or dim light, and an adjustable 2600 to 5400K color temperature and brightness are available to sharpen the image.

Fast Quick Release

Upgraded quick release system with general quick release plate for easier balancing, assembly, and disassembly. Locks with palm-rejection design to protect cameras while ensuring efficiency.

Charge Fast and Faster

PD Fast Charge, a Type-C charging port, and 1150mAh battery capacity allow you to charge the gimbal to full in only two hours, but it will operate for up to eight hours. You can also use the gimbal while charging via a power bank.

New Design

The CRANE-M3 features a fashionable white color and an ergonomic grip handle with a material that comfortably fits your palm.

Expansion Possibilities

Options include an expansion base with a microphone connection port, 1/4" audio port, and 1/4" expansion port to unlock more capabilities such as vlogging, commercials, interviews, and travelogues. A custom-designed backpack is also available separately.

My favorite gimbal by far and I have ronin, m, s, etc. super light with strong motors. It can hold my r6 with 35 or 16mm. My favorite new setup is iPhone 13 pro max with the m3.

light and plate issue

be careful before buying if these are important for you: (used with sony a7s3+ sony 35mm 1.8 - gimbal holds great) 1. light is bright and great, but the warm light is not dimmable and it`s too bright - it makes you blind in dark, the cold light is flickering. I hope it`s fixable by software upgrade, or Zhiyun will install better light elements. 2. the plate is covering the battery door of Sony A. To change the battery you will need to unscrew the plate every time. 3. with my setup arms aren`t foldable - you need to readjust the arm`s length every time to fold the gimbal. It`s because they are short when folded, you can see them in the pictures. Due to this, I have sent the item back the next day

The Crane M3 is great. It is remarkable how small it is, yet it seems to be able to handle fairly large cameras. Balancing is pretty easy (YouTube videos will help), but you just need to get close when it comes to balancing. The auto-calibration system (which takes about 10 seconds) finishes the balancing. My Panasonic Lumix GH5 doesn't take directions from the M3 - I have to manually press the start button on the camera to record - but that is not a problem. I have the M3 pro package, but I haven't done much with the included microphone yet. I highly recommend the Crane M3.

No, The Zhiyun CRANE-M3 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer would not support a camera with the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens. Zhiyun only recommends using a RF50mm F1.8 STM with the Canon R5, due to weight and size limitations.

The Zhiyun-Tech CRANE-M3 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer (Standard Kit) is for small cameras such as smartphones, compact cameras, and action cameras. We do not recommend using this gimbal with the Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens and any camera that it would be mounted to.

It will hold 2.2 KG or almost 5lbs. Have seen reviews using a Sony A7III without an issue. I'm not going to say it would or it wouldn't work. But this looks like from the specs it would. Any removable lens cameras I'd be concerned about likiting lens size. I don't know how finicky it would be to balance but reviews gave it good marks after that was done using the a7iii. Caveat emptor
