PNY 128GB UHS-II SDXC Overview

By B&H Photo's

Designed for 8K and 4K video, as well as raw and sequential burst photos, the 128GB X-PRO 90 UHS-II SDXC Memory Card from PNY Technologies provides up to 128GB of storage for DSLR, mirrorless, and advanced video cameras. It takes advantage of the UHS-II bus to deliver read speeds of up to 300 MB/s and write speeds of up to 280 MB/s. Thanks to its V90 speed class rating, minimum read and write speeds are guaranteed not to drop below 90 MB/s.

Please note that to achieve the full potential of this card's read and write speeds, it must be used in devices that support UHS-II. While it may be used in devices that only support UHS-I, read and write speeds will be slower.

General Features
Designed for Dramatically Accelerated Workflow
UHS-II provides bus speeds of up to double those of UHS-I by employing two rows of pins for data transfers. When operating in Half Duplex mode, the UHS-II bus employs both rows to transfer data in the same direction, allowing the card to achieve sequential transfers with read speeds of up to 300 MB/s and write speeds of up to 280 MB/s. This means that the user can shoot video at incredibly fast speeds. Alternatively, the UHS-II bus can also operate in Full Duplex mode (at half the speed of Half Duplex mode) whereby each row transfers data in the opposite direction at the same time, allowing for the movement of content from the host to the card and vice versa, simultaneously. This allows the user to execute two tasks at once, dramatically accelerating the speed at which they can execute post-production editing activities, translating into incredibly efficient workflows.
Extreme Performance for the Most Demanding Applications
This card is an ideal solution for capturing professional-quality photo and video content with fast sequential performance with read speeds of up to 300 MB/s and write speeds of up to 280MB/s. These speeds allow the user to power through even the most intense photo and video applications, from content capture with DSLR, mirrorless, and advanced video cameras, to footage transfer for photo and video editing.
Performance at the Maximum Thresholds of UHS-II with V90 Video Speed
This card pushes the limits of the UHS-II bus interface with the V90 Video Speed class, which ensures a minimum sustained read and write speed of 90 MB/s, enabling extended lengths of cinema-quality video capture in 8K resolution. This allows content creators to take advantage of high-end host devices, such as the Canon EOS R5 & R6, the Nikon Z 7 II, and the Sony Alpha a7S III, as well as other DSLR, mirrorless, and advanced video cameras.
The Ultimate Solution for Seamless Content Capture
This card is also made for capturing sequential burst mode HD photos, 4K Ultra HD Video, and uninterrupted 8K Video at 7680 x 4320, with incredible detail. Shooting in 8K provides content creators with significant benefits, such as greater flexibility in post-production editing as well as sharper, more realistic imagery.

Out of the competition this card works exactly the same and you still can save few bucks on it.

These are fast cards, around the same speed as the OWC card I tested and since I gave the OWC card 4 stars, it's only fair to also give this 4 stars from this curmudgeon reviewer.

Great and very fast

I'm using these cards in both my Olympus E-M1X and Nikon Z6 II bodies, and they have been working very well. I used to use the Sandisk Extreme Pro +-cards for everything, but they don't have any UHS-II cards larger than 128 GB, so now I'm using a mix of different cards from different reputable makes. There was originally a 256 GB version of the Extreme Pro UHS-II, but it was cancelled. The Sandisk UHS-II cards are also relatively slow compared to some of the others. So far these PNY Elite X-Pro 90 cards have been very reliable for me in all the camera bodies I have been using them in. Some camera bodies have trouble starting up with cards that are not great quality, but my camera bodies have all be very reliable and start up right away with these cards, ready for what I need them for next. I would definitely get these again!

Fastest UHS-II On The Market

I swear by SanDisk but their pricing can be a bit high and their write speeds aren't as fast, even at their V90 cards. When shooting redundant or just JPEGs with RAWs going to my CF Express B card (Nikon Z6 II), this helps in clearing out the buffer super quick, especially compared to an Angelbird V60 card. I'll only get this card for any UHS-II card capable cameras, provided I don't need larger capacities and have to dumb down to V60.

Does what it is supposed to do

I use it as the second card in Nikon Z6 ii and it performs as advertised.

Great Price for V90 4K Sigma FP

I bought this to add to my collection of Sigma FP video SD cards to use for minimal weight on the DJI RS 3. I already have some SanDisk, but the PNY was on sale, and even though it is not on the list by Sigma, it worked just fine in the Sigma FP. 4K 12 bit raw CinemaDNG gets me 26 minutes using this card, and it is very fast.

Slow, and throws errors

I bought this card because the price was good, but I wish I had got a Sony Tough instead. This card is S-L-O-W. And for the first time ever since owning my camera (3 years), I had errors copying from the card to the computer: 4 video clips were unusable. I don't trust this card.
