Based on the RDNA 2 architecture and designed to handle the graphical demands of 4K gaming as well as 1400p at high frame rates, the Sonnet AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Graphics Card provides an immersive gaming experience with your PC games. The GPU features 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM and a 256-bit memory interface, offering improved performance and power efficiency over the previous RDNA-based generation.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs, such as DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.1 supports up to 48 Gb/s bandwidth and a range of higher resolutions and refresh rates, including 8K @ 60fps, 4K @ 120fps, and even up to 10K. The RX 6800 XT is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 4608 cores to accelerate APIs. For cooling, this GPU implemented a triple fan cooler.

This graphics card will work with select Sonnet eGPU Thunderbolt Expansion Systems as well as the Apple Mac Pro (2019).

DirectX 12 Ultimate
DirectX12 Ultimate gives game developers the power to deliver immersive visuals with real-time DirectX Raytracing (DXR), Variable Rate Shading (VRS), Mesh Shaders, and Sampler Feedback, taking games to the next level.
AMD FidelityFX
AMD FidelityFX is an open-source image-quality toolkit comprising of seven different solutions available for game developers to implement into their games that are optimized for AMD RDNA and RDNA 2 architectures.
AMD Radeon Image Sharpening
Restores clarity to in-game images that have been softened by other post-process effects. RIS combines with GPU upscaling to provide sharp visuals at fluid frame rates on very high-resolution displays, and works across DirectX 9, 12, and Vulkan titles.
AMD FreeSync 2 Technology
Reduce screen tearing with AMD's FreeSync 2 Technology. FreeSync 2 enables the monitor to dynamically adjust its refresh rate to the frame rate being output by the graphics card, thereby greatly reducing screen tearing, stuttering, and other artifacts.
Radeon Anti-Lag
Optimized for eSports, Radeon Anti-Lag improves competitiveness by decreasing input-to-display response times by up to 31 percent, delivering an experience similar to higher frame rates.
AMD Radeon Boost
AMD Radeon Boost dynamically lowers resolution of the entire frame when fast on-screen character motion is detected via user input, allowing for higher FPS with little impact to quality.

Sonnet RX 6800 XT Reviews

Incredibly noisy

This card is ridiculously noisy when under load. It's the kind of thing I would expect to hear in a server farm. It's quieter than human speech but not by much.

Excellent Card

I bought this card to to replace a GTX1080ti. I use it on an X570 motherboard with a Ryzen 7 3800x processor. It is extremely fast using SAM (resizable BAR). Overall this is a high quality graphics card. And mine is NOT loud at all. In fact it is probably the quietest card I have ever owned.

It's a Noisy Card, and it's Not the Fans.

Not sure if it's just the luck of the draw, or indicative of Sonnet's components, but this card is the loudest I have ever owned and it's not the fans, it's coil whine. I'm running this card in an eGPU Razer Core X Chroma on a MacBook Pro 2019 i7. Under Mac OS and Windows 10, the card makes very noticeable sounds under the lightest loads, for example, web browser GPU acceleration. While scrolling you can actually hear the scrolling through the GPU's components. Under heavy loads, such as 3D rendering, and benchmarking the coil whine is defining, and louder than the fans at full speed. The eGPU enclosure is only powering the GPU and has 700 watts available. Neither my 980ti KingPin nor my EVGA 3080 have had any issues in this enclosure. For a card this expensive this is not Okay. I will be contacting Sonnet support. As for its performance, this card is comparable to my 3080 until you get to ray tracing, it is lacking there, but most likely due to software optimization.

Perfect Workstation Graphics Card

I've been struggling to find a high end graphics card that included a fully functional USB-C port and finally found this one. It's perfect for my home-office because I can use it to declutter with a monitor with built-in USB hub. Best of all, this graphics card even fits in my mini-itx case.

Almost XT C

There are more performant GPUs out there. You could also spend significantly more bucks on them and reap only OK gains. For the money, this card is pretty awesome. I don't play a lot of games, but I am using this GPU in a Ryzen9 5950x PC with X570S Aorus Master motherboard, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Forza run with enough performance that I'm happy. I'd recommend to others

Will this fit in a standard PCIe slot on the motherboard or must it go into an external enclosure?
Asked by: Wendel
You should connect it to PCI-Express 4.0 slot or to a compatible eGPU Module
