Angelbird 512GB CFexpress Type B Reviews

Not stable in Canon R3

The price was amazing so I decided to pick one up for my Canon R3. It has not been stable to put it lightly. I have gotten error messages from the Canon which hadn't happen with any of the other Type-B cards I have.

1.5X price for 4X capacity! What do you expect more?

I just paid 50% more of Sandisk 128GB card and get 4X of the storage for this card. You may said the read/write speeds are difference. Yes, every card is difference! However, I can use 1.9Gb/s, the highest bit rate of my GH6, for the ProRes format without and problem. If you are looking for the fastest card, it may not your choice. If you a videographer, you may need 2-3 each of 512GB card for ProRes 422 recording, it is hard for find a better choice.

Works well on my brand new XH2s. Some limited tests on different recording formats. Tried both 360mbps and 720mbps prores formats and this thing doesn't seem to care or need time buffering. It just does it and asks what's next?. Also did some limited test on the inexpensive Ritz card reader. Transferred 3.5GB in what seemed like a split second. I blinked and it was done. According to the read rate of 1785MB/s, i'd say it's within the margin of error.

Huge card for the price!

Given its capacity, this is an incredible deal relative to equivalent products from manufacturers such as Sandisk and Lexar. It's also built like a tank. I bought an Angelbird reader to go with it. It's also excellent, from build quality to reliability. The only problem I have with this card is not with the card itself but with my camera. I have a D850. Nikon, in March, released a firmware update which, among other improvements, will allow CFE cards to be used along with XQD. The problem is that I'll only ever get less than half the sustained write speed that this card will do (800 MB/s - I'd be lucky to hit 400). I don't really care about that at the moment. Very happy with this card and with the service from B&H.

Interesting To Know MB Is Different From Mbps

As I was looking for CFexpress cards and I needed a lot of space for 8K raw, I came across this cards, I bought one to see if my camera records it on them and the card works as charm the camera is R5C and this card works perfectly and I just realized that 2570 Mbps that the highest setting needs on the camera is just 321MB (this is a confusing fact trademarks don't want you to know)

Works great with the R5C. I have 2 of these and they have worked flawlessly in every recording format for the R5C.

Works wonderfully on my R5C

I'm a wedding videographer and just got the R5C and of course, needed a cfexpress card. I was dreading the high cost of most of them on the market today. I was having a hard time with the idea of spending $300-500 for one card. After a little bit of searching I came across this card. It was relatively new at the time and had very few reviews. I saw it was from angelbird and knowing their products, I decided to take a chance in it. The price was amazing for the storage that it provided. I've since shot 8 weddings and 5 YouTube videos, and 20 short sessions and this card has not failed once! My only regret is that I only bought one at the time and definitely should have gotten a few more as redundancies. I guess I'll just purchase two more now!
