Wolfen DN21 from ORWO is a unique panchromatic black & white film with a nominal sensitivity of ISO 13. Originally created as an intermediate film for motion picture prints, DN21 produces well-balanced midtones and rich, deep blacks that make it suitable for dramatic portraits and landscapes. Wolfen DN21 Reviews
Excellent for creating Atmosphere!
This film has dreamy, atmospheric ,early Sci-Fi movie characteristics which are further amplified with wider apertures. If you are someone who is into more Fine Art photography then this film is worth throwing in your toolbox as it does have it's own undeniable uniqueness. If processed as Wolfen suggest with D96 6-8 minutes you will receive good/consistent results ( I process for 7 minutes with 10 seconds of agitation per minute at 20C ).
Roll was only 17 exposures!
I bought this back in April but just got around to shooting it, this morning. I loaded it into my Nikon F5 and started shooting.. at frame 17, the camera 'end roll' light came on.... I thought that was really odd so pulled the roll out and developed it fully expecting there to be a bunch of blank frames due to some error with the camera but NOPE... it was a short roll and only contained 17 frames. How does that even happen - I'm guessing just poor quality control but either way, that makes this the most expensive (per frame) roll of file that I've shot in a long time!!
