Outstanding NAS for home office

I purchased this NAS and three 61.44 TB Solidigm U.2 drives for a RAID 5 ( 100 TB of space should last me at least next 3-4 years). This was waaaaaaay more than I need in performance, but I suspect I'll grow into it. The NAS is rock solid/steady, QuTS OS is very, very easy to use. There are excellent additional apps that are available in the QNAP environment. Overall, this was a bit of a guilty purchase to expand from a 9 year old NAS with failing HDDs. This is pricey overall ( 20K) but man, it performs beautifully.

Absolutely love this NAS. Quiet, fast, and did I say quiet and fast!? I configured this 64GB memory model with 5x 7.68 TB Samsung U.2 drives in a RAID 5 array. The U.2 drives are fast like M.2 drives, but they have huge, finned heat sinks (same size as 2.5 drives but with NVMe connectors instead of SATA) and they fit nicely in the 12 available drive bays. I'm not new to fast video editing RAIDs, but I've come from servers and workstations with 5 to 16 rotating drives and 8x 2.5 SSDs arrays. I have been using 4GB cache Areca controller cards and 10Gbe copper ethernet. Now, this NAS is so much more convenient, soooo much quieter, and soooo much faster! I read good things about QuTS hero (ZTFS), so that is the operating system that I chose to use (it is included with the purchase). I have absolutely no buyer's remorse. Yes, this NAS is not cheap, but I didn't really run across any other solutions that were this fast, quiet, and scalable.

To rephrase my question, will the drive bays accept a 15mm tall drive?

Sure, you could put a smaller drive in the QNAP TS-H1290FX-7232P-64G-US 12-Bay NAS Enclosure's bays, and it should connect so long as it has a SATA III connection, but it won't be very secure, as these bays are designed to accommodate 2.5" (63.5mm) drives only.

Yes, when paired with QNAP's PCIe Network cards the QNAP TS-H1290FX-7232P-64G-US 12-Bay NAS Enclosure can connect up to 20 PCs together without a network switch.

Is this compatible with Apple Mac Studio M2 Ultra, if so, what is the best way to connect both devices for best performance?

Yes the QNAP TS-H1290FX-7302P-128G-US 12-Bay NAS Enclosure BH #QNTSH1290128 is compatible with a Mac Studio M2. You would connect the NAS to your network and access it that way.
