Listen to the Arius YDP-165 through its powerful 40W built-in speakers, or connect up to two pairs of headphones for personal monitoring that's gentle on the ears and won't disturb others. Compatibility with Yamaha's free Smart Pianist app lets you connect a smart device or computer via USB and perform operations such as sound selection, song playback, and audio recording. Expand your repertoire by practicing along with the 50 classic songs and 303 lesson songs included in the internal memory and supplied song book.

Beautiful CFX Concert Grand Piano Tone and More
  • The Arius YDP-165 offers the sound of a precisely sampled Yamaha flagship 9' CFX concert grand piano, which is sonically characterized by sparkling highs and a powerful resonant bass.
  • Additional instrument sounds (10 total) include electric pianos, organs, harpsichord, and strings.
  • The Layer mode allows two different instruments such as an acoustic piano and a string ensemble to be played together for a more complex sound that inspires even greater musical creativity. Choose from four types of reverb to sweeten your sound.
  • With 192-note polyphony, the piano handles complex performances without cutting off notes.
GH3 Triple-Sensor Keybed: Authentic Touch and Feel for Proper Finger Technique
  • The company's GH3 (Graded Hammer 3) triple-sensor weighted-action keybed acurately reproduces the touch and feel of an acoustic piano, from a naturally heavy feel in the lower key to a lighter touch in the upper octaves—just like the hammers inside an acoustic piano. The triple sensors provide a grand piano-style response, allowing rapid note repetition and authentic expressive control.
  • The 88 keys feature synthetic ebony and ivory keytops to prevent slippage caused by perspiration and give players a more tactile experience.
  • Great for the aspiring pianist, practicing on the GH3 action helps build the proper finger technique and strength for when the time comes to perform on an acoustic piano.
Experience the Harmonic Resonance of an Acoustic Grand Piano
  • The YDP-165 utilizes Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite) technology to reproduce the sympathetic resonance of an acoustic piano, created when the vibrations of the strings are propagated to the soundboard and other strings, and corresponding to the timing and intensity of key playing and pedaling.
Expressive Variations with Three-Pedal System
  • To further enhance the YDP-165's acoustic pianolike authenticity, the three-pedal system replicates the position and individual weighting of the damper (with half-pedal support), soft, and sostenuto pedals of the Yamaha CFX concert grand.
40W of Natural and Powerful Sound with Tone Escapement Construction
  • In addition to the powerful built-in 40W stereo speaker system, the YDP-165 uses tone-escapement construction on the back of the cabinet that emanates sound from inside the piano. This allows you to experience natural sound radiation and three-dimensional resonance like that of an acoustic piano.
  • A Volume Limiter function lets you set a fixed maximum volume level, to protect your hearing from loud sound over the speakers or headphones.
Comfortable Headphone Monitoring with Stereophonic Optimizer
  • The YDP-165 employs technology that enhances the sound balance based on your monitoring level in the headphones. This gives you an exceptionally natural sound that's easy to listen to and gentle on the ears, great for extended playing.
  • When wearing headphones, the Stereophonic Optimizer effect lets you enjoy the natural, spacious sound you would experience sitting in front of an acoustic grand piano.
Duo Mode for Playing Along with a Partner
  • The convenient Duo mode allows the piano's keyboard to be split in the center, making it possible for a teacher to play on the left side while the student follows along on the right.
  • Alternatively, one person can play the left-hand part on the left, while another plays the right-hand part on the right. This is especially useful when learning with a partner, letting you learn and practice parts together.
  • The instrument is equipped with two headphone jacks for quiet performance or practice with two players.
Learn with 353 Built-In Songs and Lesson Features
  • The YDP-165 has 353 built-in songs including 50 famous classical songs and 303 comprehensive practice exercises from famous methods such as Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny, and Hanon.
  • To help you practice and perform with precision timing, the built-in metronome offers patterns with 0 to 9 beats at a tempo ranging from 5 to 280 BPM—improve your timing and rhythm.
  • Other lesson features include transpose and tuning.
Record Your Performance On the Fly
  • The integrated two-track MIDI song recorder lets you capture and play back your performance, helpful during lessons or just for fun. Up to two Parts (left-hand and right-hand) can be recorded separately).
Intuitive Operation with Smart Pianist App
  • Connect the piano to your smart device via the USB port and run the Smart Pianist app. With the app, you can easily operate the various sound functions of the instrument and call up scores of the built-in songs. It also features a comprehensive Piano Room function for changing the tonal quality and resonance settings of the piano sound.
USB MIDI and USB Audio Interface for Computer and Smart Devices
  • The USB-to-Host terminal allows you to connect the keyboard to a computer or portable device and record MIDI or stereo audio without the need for an additional interface.

What is the difference with the previous model YDP-164?
Asked by: Nestor
While many of the basic features are the same, there are a few differences between the Yamaha ARIUS YDP-165 88-Key Console Digital Piano with Bench and the previous model, the Yamaha YDP-164 88-Key Console Digital Piano with Bench, including some updated features. One of the new features on the YDP-165 is a Layer mode which allows two different instruments such as an acoustic piano and a string ensemble to be played together for a more complex sound. The YDP-164 does not offer this feature. For presets, the YDP-165 has 10 demo songs, 50 classic songs, and 303 lesson songs while the YDP-164 has 10 demo songs and 50 classics, but no lesson songs. Both pianos can record one song at a time with two tracks, but the data capacity differs. The YDP-165 can record approximately 150 KB per song and the YDP-164 can record approximately 100 KB per song (approximately 11,000 notes). The YDP-165 also has a built-in metronome and tuner.
