A fast, versatile prime, this 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens from Sigma is designed for use with APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras. The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords extensive control over depth of field for using selective focus techniques. The optical design features a pair of aspherical elements, along with one high-refractive index element, which significantly reduce spherical aberrations and distortion for increased clarity and definition for notably sharp image quality. Also, a Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to control lens flare and ghosting in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, benefitting both stills shooting and video recording, this compact prime also incorporates a stepping AF motor for smooth, near-silent autofocus performance.

As part of the Contemporary line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve a balance between convenience and performance, and meshes a compact, lightweight build and versatile handling with notable optical attributes.
Normal-length prime is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 45mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.4 maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for achieving selective focus effects.
Two aspherical elements and one high-refractive index element are used to limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.
A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.
A stepping AF motor benefits both photographers and videographers with its fast, precise, and near-silent performance.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

This line of lenses is fantastic, I use it with my Sony a6000 and it really lets the hardware shine vs the stock lenses that came with the body. Pictures are much clearer and better in my typical low light shooting. What a difference!

This is such a great must have lens in your kit. It's lightweight, (compared to the 16mm) small, and takes excellent crisp sharp images/video. And it's a fast lens 1.4 so its very versatile. This would be your nifty fifty on a crop sensor. Very happy with this lens, and is a compliment to the 16mm. I don't own the 56mm so I cant compare with that.

I've been using this lens for shooting still images of vehicles in car and motorcycle shows. I'm getting more familiar with this focal length in an ASPC application where I had previously used an 18-105 Zoom and it has definite benefits shooting in lower light applications. I have found it difficult to use the supplied hood and an ND filter concurrently.

I bought this lens for gym mirror selfies because the lighting in my gym is really bad, and I needed a wide open f-stop. The f/1.4 setting with autofocus works great in a mirror. The 30mm focal length is also great for an indoor setting. You don't have to get too far away from your subject for a full body shot, and it's not so wide that it's capturing other people. This significantly reduced the ISO and noise I had to get the same exposure with my Fuji zoom kit lens where the f-stop was ~3.4 with the same focal length.

Went to Road Atlanta this weekend and it worked flawlessly. Sigma's Contemporary lineup is a must for Sony APS-C users. The proof is in the pudding.

I own a Sony a6000 and this lens is the one of the most popular upgrades from the kit lens for a reason. I purchased this lens for its great low light photography and video. I also read alot of reviews saying the sharpness was great but wow did it really blow me away after i saw the difference. Definitely happy with this purchase!

Yes the Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens for Fuji X mount has high-speed AF, and the lens also supports AF-C (Continuous AF) and in-camera aberration correction in supported cameras only.

As a rule, you'll want a lens cap that is the same size as a filter for the lens, in this case, 52mm.

If you are looking for a Sigma 30mm lens for the Canon EF lens mount, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Art Lens for Canon, B&H # SI3014DCHSMC, would work for your usage needs, while the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF, B&H # SI3514C, would be a slightly less wide option that would also work for your usage needs.

This lens is made for APS-C sensor , its not for a full frame , when using this with full frame the camera will crop down the sensor and the resolution , more then 50%

Construction includes plastic. Build quality between the Sigma and the Sony is fairly similar. They both use a machined metal chassis with plastic internals. Compared to older Sigma DN lenses, the 30mm F1.4 doesn't let its focus elements rattle about when unmounted, which is a very welcome change. The focus ring is also an improvement, and a step above the Sony. The rubber grip turns smoothly and easily with minimal effort, making the Sony feel a bit stiff. The only downfall in terms of build is the Sigma's lens hood, which doesn't seem to confidently click in to place, and is made of rather fragile feeling plastic.
