For a USB-C type flash drive it has proven to be excruciatingly slow. I also wonder about their choice of design. I think having a dust cap is a smart decision, but what's with the 2 tether holes on the side of the unit? A cap that securely snaps on with a tether point on the business end, like most other brands do it, would be more practical

We needed a very small flash drive (USB C) for our Rodecaster Pro II and this works perfectly. The size was part of the our purchasing consideration, so that we didn't have a dongle or large SSD drive hanging off of the unit. It's quick and painless.

Excellent USB-C SSD that is durable and low-profile. It's very reliable and reading/writing to and from the drive is as close to working off my PCIe NVMe internal drive as I've experienced. Great performance and excellent deal for the price.

Performance Metrics are Misleading

when it says you will get 300 mb/s transfer speeds i'm just letting you know right now that you won't even come close to that. the thumb drive does hit 300 mb/s read speed but that means nothing when it comes to transfers. best i got out of 3 tests on a usb 3.1 usb c connection directly into my motherboard was 36.62 mb/s write speeds. pretty bad i bought this just because i needed something cheap to use the rest of my promo money but if you want performance look elsewhere. also if you plan on using this with a phone that has a case on it i would look elsewhere as well. i have a slim spigen case on my s20 ultra and the wide base of the thumb drive hits the case which isn't a narrow cutout.

While the Samsung 256GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C Flash Drive (Blue) BH #SAMUF256DAAM can connect to the BMPC 4K, it is not on the list of approved media and your results will vary depending on what quality you are trying to record. Blackmagic provides a list of certified media which is a good point of reference for what yo use: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/faq/59025 From Samsung they recommend the T5 or T7 series drives for the best results.

No, the Sony a9 II Mirrorless Camera cannot connect directly to a USB drive without a computer. It cannot connect directly to the Samsung 256GB USB 3.1 Type-C Flash Drive.
