Can I record direct to the SSD from my R5C?

Can I record direct to the SSD from my R5C?
Asked by: Eduardo
Unfortunately, no, you may not use an external hard drive such as the Samsung 1TB T7 Shield Portable SSD (Black) connected to the USB port of the Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera. However, while recording via the USB port is not currently possible as of the date/time of this reply, you may record by connecting an external recorder to the camera's HDMI port, such as the Atomos Ninja V 5" 4K HDMI Recording Monitor, B&H # ATNINJAV • MFR # ATOMNJAV01, onto which you may connect an SSDmini or SSD with Master Caddy II/III hard drive such as the Angelbird AtomX SSDmini (1TB), B&H # ANATOMXM1000 • MFR # ATOMXMINI1000PK.

Can you recommend USB-C cable brands that fit the T7 Shield? Most that I have tried fit loosely and disconnect intermittently.
Asked by: George
Thanks but the Belkin BoostCharge cable is USB 2.0 with <480 MB/s data transfer rate. The T7 Shield is USB 3.2 Gen 2, with <10 GB/s data transfer rate, 20 times higher than the Belking cable would support. After a few months of very light use, none of the many USB-C cables I have tried, except the one foot long cable that came with the T7 Shield, will stay securely in the T7 Shield USB port. Do you have any other suggestions for a 3- or 6-foot USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 cable that fits more tightly and won't disconnect intermittently from the T7 Shield?
