Designed for up to 8K cine-style image capture, the Leica L-mount 21mm T1.5 Cine Lens from IRIX produces a distortion-free, wider-angle look that is compatible with sensor sizes up to full-frame 35mm. External features include a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gears, luminous focus marks in feet, and a detachable 1/4"-20 support foot. A fast T1.5 maximum aperture enables the IRIX 21mm T1.5 Cine Lens to capture images in low light conditions without the need for super-high ISO settings.

This lightweight, aluminum/magnesium alloy lens produces smooth, rounded bokeh, color, and contrast that matches the T1.5 30 and 45mm primes in the IRIX Cine series. An adaptive focus ring delivers smooth focusing whether used manually or with a lens motor.

The IRIX Look
The IRIX Cine 21mm is a wide 43.3mm full-frame lens that conveys the IRIX "look" featuring shallow depth of field, soft highlights, subtle mist, and distinctive bokeh created by the rounded iris blades.
Distortion-Free Wide Lens
Wide enough for working in tight spaces but not so wide as to distort, the IRIX Cine 21mm keeps your subject's natural proportions and creates a sense of being there in the shot for viewers.
Ready for Any Weather Condition
Rain or shine, the rugged and durable construction of the IRIX Cine 21mm guarantees that you can keep on working with whatever the weather throws at you. The lens is resistant to rain, sand, and dust, so you can take it for your next adventure in a desert or jungle if your camera can handle those environments. Engraved markings on the lens have been filled with UV-reactive paint, so filming in difficult lighting conditions becomes much easier.
Functionality and Innovation
All IRIX cinema lenses have very similar dimensions and weight, which allows for quick and easy lens changes without the need to change the rest of your setup. The product is equipped with a Magnetic Mounting System (MMS) that lets you connect accessories such as magnetic filters from the Irix Edge lineup or an optional lens hood.
Cine Standards
The IRIX Cine 21mm was designed in accordance with the standards of the professional film industry, being the result of a combination of traditional lens solutions and modern innovation. This 21mm has a front filter thread size of 95mm and geared 0.8 MOD rings, which ensures compatibility with most accessories available on the market.
Adaptive Gear Ring
The adaptive gear ring is an innovative function you will love, no matter if you are a pro or an amateur. The ring has been designed to keep the lens housing sleek and user-friendly when operated manually, without any compromises when you want to use your favorite cine gear.
Magnetic Mount System
All the IRIX Cine lenses have a Magnetic Mount System (MMS) compatible with the separately available IRIX Edge MMS filters and IRIX MMS lens hood. The IRIX Edge magnetic filters have a unique threadless design, so you can be sure that everything stays clean and ready for action. The MMS filters can be stacked together, enabling you to not only freely combine them but to save space when stored. All the IRIX Edge MMS filters are made of hardened optical glass (SR) with a multilayer, antireflective nano-coating that makes them easy to clean.
Lightweight and Compact Design
The aluminum-magnesium alloy construction makes the lens housing weight only 2.4 to 2.6 lb, depending on the mount. It has a front external diameter of 95mm to fit most matte boxes and accessories, an 86mm filter thread, and a front Magnetic Mount System (MMS) for rapid filter and hood replacement.
Improved Lens Cover
The previous lens cover didn't allow leaving the lens standing on a surface, so the improved cover has a flat top and slides on the lens. Thanks to this redesign, you can now leave the lens upside down on a table and not worry about it wobbling.

IRIX 21mm T1.5 Cine (ft) Reviews

really impressed

I purchased this lens for my sony FX9 and I shoot with the raw extension. I mostly use the 28/135 F4 sony cine zoom lens. I needed something a bit more wide with a fastest aperture. My dream came true. this lens is excellent, extremely sharp and delivered stunning results. I have tried also the sony 16/35 GM master f2.8.. . but sometimes a real cine lens is better when autofocus(es) has their limitations and when manual focus is required for creativity. highly recommended

A much needed upgrade

This lens is truly a gem. Superb craftsmanship, sharpness and color rendition., it's a wide angle lens with very little distortion. Pulling focus is a breeze with this lens. With added accessories it has turned my BGH1 into a full-fledged cinema rig.

Our preferred lens series

In over 40 years of industrial and feature film making, the Irix primes are my favorite series of prime lenses, favored over the big name lenses that cost 4-5x. They are fast, sharp, have very natural-looking out-of-focus highlights, and the sealing is a bonus for those like us, who shoot a lot of exteriors. Hopefully Irix will soon offer something in the 65mm-85mm range so we can relegate our current short telephoto to the B camera lens set.

The best option for putting a UV filter in front of the IRIX 21mm T1.5 Cine Lens (Sony E, Feet) would be to use a matte box with filter holders or a filter tray.
