    Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 reviews

EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Lens is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 622.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from great starter Got this with my T3 kit in a bundle for Black Friday. First foray stepping away from point and shoot. Read a lot of reviews and complaints. First off, it's not an L lens so people need to stop comparing. If you realize what you have, then you are good to go. As far as the 200mm to 300mm zoom goes, it's imperative to use a tripod or you will get nothing but blur. I tried this and was disappointed until I used a tripod/monopod. The zoom, with manual focus, can get you that good to sometimes great shot all the time. Until you are ready to step your game up, this is a very good lens to learn the basics. Just remember what you have and your expectations will be reached.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tolerable Lens I've used this lens heavily over the last year and I'd say its a decent beginner's zoom lens. The lens is pretty lightweight, easy to use, and has a good focal range, but using the longer lengths can be tricky since there isn't image stabilization. You get some slight optical imperfections at 300mm as well and the image quality can be a bit soft at times. If you want a zoom lens for occasional use, this is fine, but people who rely on this focal range, especially professionals, may want to look into the IS version or Canon's 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II lens. if your hobbyist, though, this lens is convenient to have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It will get the job done After I bought this lens I was impressed with the clarity and clarity, but I wish I would have held out for the IS USM version. I tried to take a few shots of my little girls playing at the park and as long as I used a high shutter speed, I was ok. I am use to running at 1/80th, yet this lens seems to need at least 1/200 to help with any blurred images while on the go. I love the DOF this lens provides. I was able to really bring some new life to some of my landscape shots. Right now I have this mounted on my T1i body and for a begininger I'm pretty happy in exchange for the money I've spent. I think if your looking for a solid lens without hurting the pocket, you'll be satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this Lense I like taking pictures of insects. I once used a point a shoot camera which was ok, but didn't allow me to get close up shots without scaring them away. I just got my first DSLR camera last month and had the same problem with the stock lens. This product was within my budget and the optical zoom was perfect for me to use. Only downfall I had was that the image quality declined once I pass the 250mm-275mm mark, but its better than no picture at all and the clarity problem can easily be fixed or corrected on my computer. I have no problem keeping stability on my shots, the weight of the lens helps. Currently saving for a macro lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens, great price. This is a great lens. It's obviously not an amazing $2000+ lens, but it gets the job done. I've been shooting for a year now, and these lens do give me great results. I get close ups of animals, portrait shots, and close ups of birds from a distance, and the photos come out great. Everyone who's complaining here about the lens are obviously those who want the best photos in the world and think that cheap lens are suppose to do that. Nah man, they're cheap, obviously not the best, but they really do give great results and I would recommend to anyone who's looking for a cheap, telephoto lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens for the price. This lens is great for the price. I read a lot of reviews of people complaining that there is no IS on it. First of all you don't use an IS with a tripod. Secondly, using AF really doesn't give you the sharpest photos. That is what manual focal ring is for. Over all the lens MTP chart has a high rating at 75-200mm. If you want to have a good telephoto lens for a great price then this is a good buy. If you can't afford a more expensive lens and worry about possible camera shake, because there is no IS on this lens, remember you can always use mirror lock up on your camera or live view.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not much to say... it's average lens all-around. Not a bad lens, but not really good. It has great range, but you will need a tripod, for sure. Images are nice, but not perfect. Great lens for beginners because of price. No USM, and no IS make it pretty plain. I bought a 55-250mm IS lens to replace this one. If I know I'm going somewhere where I'll need the extra zoom, and I plan on bringing a tripod, I will bring this one out of the closet for a bit. If you're looking to buy a telephoto zoom, save up for a couple more months and get the 55-250mm IS lens. For what it's worth, you absolutely can't argue with the value.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This lens is fairly durable. It has been used in Borneo rainforest, US deserts and winter snow in the midwest. I have not had any problems w/ moisture in the rainforest and blowing dust in the desert. This lens was on my camera when I slipped on ice and took the brunt of the fall from about 6 feet. Afterwards the only problem I had was a loose screw that had to be tightened. However the picture quality provided through this lens is only average. Recommend for family outings, and nature hikes if you may run into in-climate weather. Not for high-quality wildlife shooting.
