I think it is. I use this lens to shoot both landscape and wildlife such as birds perched in a tree.

What is the difference between this and the USM version? Which is better?
The USM version incorporates their Ultrasonic Autofocus Motor which allows the AF to focus more smoothly and decisively. Its the better of the two lenses.
