Combining a classic focal length with a fast aperture, the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AF II is a versatile, well-rounded, wide-angle lens for Sony E-mount cameras. It excels in everything from street photography to landscape and video work, thanks to its suite of cutting edge features, full-frame coverage, and customizable controls.
Its updated AF system features an internal focusing design which maintains the overall length of the lens during use and prevents the filter ring and lens barrel from rotating during focusing. This benefits working with circular polarizers and graduated ND filters. A linear stepping motor is used for silent and precise operation. The built-in switch allows you to use the focus ring to control aperture, and features full time focus override.
Making deliberate use of their ultra multicoating technology, Samyang has equipped this lens with two high refractive index elements and two aspherical elements to help control spherical aberrations and distortions for improved sharpness, resolution, and clarity.
The physical design features weather-sealed construction to guard against dust and moisture. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Samyang AF 35mm f/1.4 II Reviews
Purchased for portraits - autofocus is terrible
I've been shooting with this lens for over a month and have done multiple graduation shoots with it. The good: For the price this lens has exceptional build quality, pleasing bokeh, and great sharpness when stepped down. I don't think you could find a more flattering 35mm for this price. Color rendition is nice and photos have that 3D pop associated with good micro-contrast. The bad: The lens struggles to nail the subject's eyes and will often focus on the nose or chest(shooting on Sony a7iv) and will hunt when facing backlit situations. I noticed the first photo in a burst is consistently out of focus - it seems like the green box shows up before the lens is done finding fine focus. This is my only samyang/rokinon autofocus lens so I haven't bought the lens station, it's disappointing that you need to spend another $60 to make this lens usable. When editing in lightroom the lens profile is not automatically applied - not a big deal but annoying when you use multiple lenses in the same shoot. Have not had this problem with any other third party lens I own.
