While the docking station definitely helps expand your desktop to other displays, it also provides additional USB Type-A ports (two in the front, four in the back), a USB Type-C charging port with 60W power delivery, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, and even a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 LAN jack. The docking station is powered by the included AC adapter.

HDMI, DisplayPort, or Both

Connect to three HDMI monitors, three DisplayPort monitors, or a combination of both. This docking station offers three 4K HDMI ports and three 4K DisplayPort outputs, so you can mix and match up to three monitors without adapters. For computers that only support one display, this docking station has you covered with DisplayLink technology. Please note that you need to download the DisplayLink driver to get full functionality.

A Powerful Performer

Aside from a plethora of display outputs, this docking station also provides a whole host of extra ports. There are four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports in the rear and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports in the front. Also in the front is a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Going back to the rear, you'll have the aforementioned display outputs, as well as a USB Type-C charging port and a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 LAN jack.

When connecting multiple monitors, does this dock only “mirror” additional displays, or can it “extend” multiple displays?

The Plugable 12-in-1 USB Type-C Docking Station can connect up to three 4K monitors in either extend or mirror mode, as long as your computer supports it.
