AtlasPacks Adventure Reviews

Extremely comfortable, plenty of space

This is my second pack from Atlaspacks. I also own the Athlete, which I also love. I resisted buying the bigger pack, but finally decided that having storage for my 200-600 attached to a body was important for travel. The Adventure can fit the Sony 200-600 with hood in ready position attached to a body, with other lenses as well. Note that you will miss wildlife and birds if the lens is packed though... I think of this as a travel pack. When I expect animals, the lens is out and ready. This pack has plenty of space for long telephoto lenses. The most important part of this pack, aside from the capacity, was the fit. This is the best fitting camera pack I've owned (same as the Athlete). It's up there with the best hiking packs I've tried, and better than many well-known name brands. That doesn't mean it fits everyone, but it fits me just about perfectly. It is worth a try if you are tired of flat boxes with straps on them. The heavy-duty adventure hipbelt is amazing and holds the weight where it should be. The adjustable torso lets you dial it in. The shape lets it sit in the small of my back without slipping. The padding is very comfortable. I can't say enough about it. The ease of use is great. Being able easily open the pack and see all of the gear is wonderful. Keeping the straps clean via the rear access is a big plus. This has very good organization and a good sized laptop sleeve that fits my large laptop easily. I like having the top lid for quick access to things like gloves, hat, bug repellent, etc. A very handy feature I like is the access to the main part of the pack via zipper from the gear section, so I don't have to close up the gear section and flip the pack to get to certain items. If you need more space for camping gear and don't need much for cameras, you can use the origami core. Pull it out to fit just what you need, and have the main compartment leftover for survival gear. It's very clever. See the Atlaspacks website for details. I can reach the water bottle pockets on both sides easily, which is important to me... I can pause for a drink without removing the pack. What you can't do... the design isn't going to let you open the pack while attached to your waist in a stream. This one needs to be set down to access the gear in the back. I don't like changing my gear over water anyway. I know many people who like that feature so just warning them that it doesn't work for this one. BUT... it has dual hideaway pull-out pockets that can let you do lens swaps if you want without swinging the pack around. Or hold a can of bear spray in easy reach. I just wish there were more color options. I'd love forest green. Highly recommended.

Great design and idea but...

I was on the hunt for a bag that could carry a Sony 600 F4, 100-400, and canon R5 with the 24-105 attached. This is not that backpack. Well at least not with the 600 F4 inside. It takes up all the available space and is too snug for comfort. Design, materials are top notch for a lighter setup. I'll be coughing up $$$ for the F-stop Shinn to carry all my gear.
