Does this support USB4 or will it be limited to USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds on Macs (which to my knowledge do not support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2)?
Asked by: Ian
To clarify the question, on any currently-released Macs data will be limited to 10 Gb/sec (USB 3.2 Gen 2) instead of the advertised 20 Gb/sec (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2)? USB-C is the type of connector rather than the protocol and USB 3.2 has multiple speeds, so the provided answer isn't specific enough to be helpful

To clarify the question, the data connection is labeled as 20 Gb/sec but it is not specified if this is a USB4 connection (which is supported by Macs -- and the APFS pre-formatting indicates this is aimed at Mac users) or USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (which is NOT supported by even USB4-equipped Macs). USB-C is only the physical connector and USB 3.2 is split between multiple data rates with patchy compatibility, so the staff answer to my question isn't specific enough about compatibility. Will the new USB4-equipped Macs will be able to use the 20 Gb/sec speeds advertised or will they be limited to the 10 Gb/sec of a years-old standard?
Asked by: Ian
This SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade Transport uses USB 3.2 x2 for its host connection, not a USB 4 connection.

The SanDisk Professional 4TB PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT could be used with a computer instead of a camera, but it is specialized for use with cameras and there are better options for a computer storage application.

Will the SanDisk Pro 2TB PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT work connected with Sony DSC RX10IV Camera?
Asked by: John
No, the Sony DSC RX10IV does not support recording to an SSD over USB, so the SanDisk Professional 2TB PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT will not work connected to the camera.
