Canon EOS R10 Mirrorless Camera
EOS R10: Compact and Capable, for Content Creators
Emphasizing portability without sacrificing on capability, the Canon EOS R10 is a sleek mirrorless camera with a hybrid ethos. Adept in both photo and video worlds, the R10 brings an APS-C sensor to the R system, along with high-speed shooting, intelligent AF, and impressive 4K video recording to complement a multimedia workflow.
24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and DIGIC X Processing
APS-C Comes to EOS R
Sitting at a sweet-spot in terms of resolution, the 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor strikes a fine balance between resolution, file size, speed, and low-light performance. This sensor is suitable for general photo tasks along with UHD 4K recording, as the file sizes are manageable enough to allow for quick continuous burst shooting and extended video recording.
DIGIC X Processor
Borrowed from the R3, the R10 sports a DIGIC X image processor to perform a variety of high-speed tasks, ranging from continuous shooting to high-resolution video recording. In terms of high-speed shooting, the R10 supports up to 23 fps continuous shooting with a silent electronic shutter or 15 fps with a mechanical shutter, with AF and AE readings before each frame. The processor also helps to realize a broad sensitivity range from ISO 100-32000, which is expandable up to ISO 51200 for working in difficult lighting conditions.
UHD 4K Video Recording
Beyond stills, the R10's sensor also offers high-res UHD 4K 8-bit recording, with the ability to record at up to 60p using a cropped portion of the sensor or at 30p when using an oversampled 6K recording area for improved sharpness, reduced moiré, and lower noise. And, for slow-motion playback, 120p recording is supported at up to Full HD resolution.

HDR-PQ recording is possible, too, for in-camera HDR production in 10-bit and external recording, via the micro-HDMI port, which supports a clean 4K output. Also, unlimited recording times are possible, too, and the R10 features an external microphone port as well as a multi-function shoe for wide accessories compatibility.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
Carried over from the EOS R3, the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system features 651 automatic AF points that covers the entire sensor area, for faster, more responsive, and more precise focusing performance. This phase-detection focusing system also has enhanced subject detection and tracking, with the ability to intelligently recognize people, animals, and vehicles and tracking will automatically lock onto these subjects and maintain sharp focus throughout burst captures. Dual Pixel AF II's low-luminance limit focuses down to an impressive -4 EV for accurate focusing even in nighttime conditions.
Body Design
Intuitive Construction
  • Bright, clear 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder is featured for high-resolution eye-level viewing. This 0.95x-magnification finder is benefitted by the fast processing for virtually no lag and a quick 120-fps refresh rate can be used for vivid, realistic motion portrayal.
  • A 3.0" vari-angle LCD is also available and benefits working high, low, and front-facing angles. The flexible position is complemented by a touchscreen interface and the clear 1.04m-dot resolution allows for vivid playback and live view monitoring.
  • Single SD memory card slot is rated for UHS-II card speeds to support fluent 4K video recording and high-speed continuous shooting.
Flexible Connectivity
Wired and wireless connectivity options are available, allowing for multiple methods of transferring photos and videos, as well as for remotely controlling the camera. Physically, the camera features a USB Type-C port along and a micro-HDMI port, as well as a 3.5mm microphone port to benefit video recording. In terms of wireless, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is available for transferring and remote camera control.
Next-Generation Multi-Function Shoe
An update to a conventional hot shoe, the Multi-Function Shoe adds a row of pins at the front of the design to permit greater accessory functionality as well as provide power to select accessory types that traditionally rely on separate batteries. This updated shoe is compatible with select accessories, including the ST-E10 Speedlite Transmitter, DM-E1D Stereo Microphone, and AD-P1 Smartphone Link Adapter, as well as the AD-E1 Multi-Function Shoe Adapter to provide compatibility with legacy shoe-mounted accessories.
Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens

A versatile zoom range in a compact package is the promise of the Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens. Made specifically for Canon's APS-C-format R Series mirrorless line, it delivers a wide-angle to short telephoto equivalent zoom range of 29-72mm. Plus, a retractable design makes it ideal for everyday carry where you want to stuff the camera in a bag.

Canon has taken care with the optical design, using two aspherical elements and the Super Spectra Coating to minimize aberrations and reduce ghosting and flare. An Optical Image Stabilizer will help ensure sharp imagery, providing up to 4 stops of shake correction or up to 6 stops of Coordinated IS with a compatible camera body. Additionally, the lead screw-type STM AF system is fast enough to keep up with speedy continuous focus while being smooth and quiet enough to work for video.

Canon R10 Reviews

Nice camera to join the mirrorless co

By Dennis
Rated 5 out of 5

I bought this camera for my grandbaby as she loves to go with me on my shoots. and we both loved and was very surprised of the quality of picture we got out of it. I actually was comparing it to my R5 that I was shooting with, and I could not tell a difference in quality. It is a little small for my hands but perfect for hers. With large lens it is a little tight for me but smaller lens it feels pretty good for me. I will certainly recommend this camera for anyone that want to test the mirrorless world. There was a guy shooting with a Sony Alpha A6400 and he loved the colors that was coming out of this camera more even thou his picture were very clear as well.

Great Lightweight Camera for the price

The R10 is a small and Lightweight Camera that's great for fast Action sports like High School Basketball and Wrestling. The autofocus is fantastic for Tracking a Basketball player or a Bird. I bought this Camera for taking action sports photos and for Wildlife photography. The fps is great for fast action and even at a high ISO I used 12,800 with my Canon EF 100 mm L 2.8 lens, see the photos in this review. Fast free shipping with B&H all at a great price. Loyal customer for 30 years.

What it does for the price is amazing. There are some frustrating limitations when it comes to video but again . . . for the price, it's amazing. My advice is make sure it handles everything you need before you get it. You may find the R7, or R6, or even the R5 are better suited to your needs.

Keeping up with technology is never easy. This camera has made that exciting. Canon certainly has a winner with this mirrorless camera. We've been using Canon for many years and this R10 is great for our travel requirements and has never disappointed. Easy to use and light weight.

After watching my B&H customer agent Gina demonstrate how to use this camera via a video chat, and upon receiving my Canon EOS R10 following-up by watching two YouTube videos by Jason Hermann such as, who mentioned B&H, (pausing to practice almost all of the options in real-time), I was able to immediately begin taking fun photos, both close-up and with the zoom 18mm to 150mm digital lens. What a fun camera! Light in weight and easy to carry anywhere.

Best Travel Camera EVER !!!

I do a lot of travel with a camera over my shoulder and the R-10 is the best. For my purposes the camera needs to be full featured, as light as possible, have a large zoom range, and obviously excellent photo quality. I started with Nikon FE film cameras. When digital came along, I found the Canon Rebel series to be excellent for travel. I started with the XSi then went to the T2, T4 and T6. The R-10 beats them all. I only carry one lens when traveling and the RF 18 - 150 is suburb. I initially ordered an R-7. Before it arrived posted reviews with very detailed photos from both the R-10 and R-7. Putting the same test photos from the two cameras side by side on a 4k monitor I could not tell the difference in photo quality between the two cameras. With the photo quality being the same I shipped the R-7 back unopened and ordered the R-10. The R-7 has some great features over the R-10, but I was willing to give up the extra features to have a built-in flash. I frequently use fill flash and find that it makes a tremendous improvement in many lighting situations. I did not want the extra weight and bulk of an external flash. If you are debating between the R-7 and R-10 the choice is simple: If you don't mind the extra weight of the camera and external flash get the R-7. If you are going to carry the camera around all day long, the 26 oz R-10 with the 18-150 lens is hard to beat. The photo quality is so good, I decided to test the R-10 against my Canon 5D Mk4. No surprise here - The 5D Mk4 won the shoot off. However, the test involved taking a ridiculously small section of each photo and expanding it to full size. Uncropped photos up to ISO 6400 were very hard to tell apart. At ISO 12,800 and above the R-10 still delivers great photos and allows cropping but does not compete with the full frame 5D Mk4. For photo slide shows on a 75" 4K television the resolution is fantastic, and it is still very difficult to tell which camera the photo came from. My 5D Mk4 is affectionately named "The Beast" because it is so large and heavy. With a 24-105 F4 L lens it weighs 59 oz. The R-10 with the 18-150 lens weighs 26 oz. This is my first mirrorless camera and I love the extra menu options and displays available. Having a histogram and level in the viewfinder is a big plus. On 80% of shots, I like to lock the meter and focus on the same spot with a half press of the shutter button, then recompose. With all 5 of my other Canon cameras this can only be done in the evaluative metering mode. The R-10 has options to do this with any or all metering modes. One issue I had with the R-10 is that the autofocus square frequently remains off center after the previous shot locked onto an object. I found a solution. There are two auto focus on buttons on the R-10, one in the front, one in the back. I reprogrammed the back AF on button to recenter the autofocus square. Overall, this is a suburb camera. At 26 oz it is a feather weight that is effortless to carry. A heavy camera is more likely to be left in the car or hotel room. Even if you are not a road warrior, this camera is a solid choice for all around photography.

Coming from the Canon m50 mark ii is a true upgrade. I'm a hobbyist Photographer so full frame is not appealing to me and this camera fits the entire bill.

Powerful and Versatile

Versatile (good for stills, fast action and distance photography), can use all EF and EF-S lenses with the EF to RF adapter and all the RF lenses, small, lightweight, and a bit more or less than $1K depending on the configuration. The 18-150 lens offers superb range. This camera is simply fun to use, easy to handle, and produces nice results.

As a beginner, is it worth buying the lens separately?
Asked by: Anthony
In my humble opinion, the 18-45mm is a great starter lens for the EOS R10. When sold together as a kit, there is a (relatively) significant savings which makes buying it separate less of a value for money.
