Go to Great Lengths

A super-telephoto zoom built for nature and wildlife image-makers, the FUJIFILM XF 150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR strikes a unique balance between immense reach and a relatively portable design, making for an ideal lens to capture the most remote and distant adventures.

Stability and Speed

  • Powerful optical image stabilization compensates for up to five stops of camera shake, making it easier to achieve sharp imagery when shooting handheld, especially under lower lighting conditions.
  • Quick and reliable autofocus performance thanks to a linear motor system, which also enables smooth and silent focusing performance that benefits both stills and video applications. This focusing system also helps to greatly reduce focus breathing.
  • Internal zooming and internal focusing design maintains the overall length and balance during use, making it more natural to use when mounted to a gimbal head and tripod or even when shooting handheld.
  • On-lens focusing controls for immediate, tactile adjustment over focusing settings: focus range limiter switch, AF-ON, and AF-L buttons.

Optics and Super-Telephoto Design

  • Four Super ED and three ED elements are featured, which greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range for a high degree of clarity and color accuracy.
  • Modest f/5.6-8 maximum aperture helps maintain a relatively portable form factor, meaning this lens can be used handheld and packed for easier use on location and for subjects that don't require the utmost speed.
  • Offering a 229-914mm equivalent focal length range, this super-tele zoom is suitable for a wide range of distant subjects. It's also compatible with the optional XF 1.4x and 2x WR Teleconverters, which can extend the lens to a further effective 1828mm equivalent focal length.
  • Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth, circular bokeh quality when using shallow depth of field and selective focus effects.

Durable Design, Intuitive Handling

  • As a lens built for the great outdoors, naturally it has extensive weather sealing to protect against moisture, dust, and cold temperatures down to 14°F.
  • Front fluorine coating protects against water, grease, dirt, and smudging, and also makes it easier to clean the front element.
  • Rotating tripod collar, with a removable foot, for greater stability when shooting atop a tripod or monopod.
  • Included lens hood features a window for easier adjustment of rotating filter types when attached to the lens.

FUJIFILM XF 150-600mm F5.6-8 R LM OIS WR Reviews

150-600mm X Lens

I use the Fuji X-system and do a lot of bird photography. My favorite kit is the X-T4 with 200mm X-prime and 1.4X teleconverter. I also use the superb XF100-400mm lens. But I got the 150-600 lens for the extra reach. Almost all my bird photos are hand-held. The auto-focus and image stabilization on the 150-600 lens is exceptional and the image quality superb. The one downside is that I'm usually shooting at f8 with the 150-600; so I don't use the lens in dim light or for birds in flight. But for still shots of distant birds, it is terrific.

Thoroughly impressed

While I've only had this lens for a few days, maybe 100 shots, I can already say this new tele has exceeded my expectations in every way. Red Badge worthy build quality and IQ. Sharpness edge to edge throughout the focal range. Amazing stabilization. No problem shooting handheld at 600mm. If I had to pick one nit, it would be the F8 maximum aperture on the long end. Certainly not a deal breaker, but worth noting. Modern sensors with low noise high ISO make it almost a non-issue. The only other review thus far mentioned terrible vignetting and minor distortion. I went back and reviewed my shots and must disagree. Vignetting is minimal, distortion nonexistent. I'm shooting on an X-T4 running the latest 1.5 firmware, which I'm assuming is correcting in camera, where the other reviewer is using an X-T2, which hasn't been updated to fully support this lens. If you have a fully supported camera and you are looking for a mid-long tele, this is it. I can't imagine how you'd be disappointed.

Reach is the reason

I just got this lens last week. B and H sent it on the first day it was shipped. I used it with XT2. I also have the 100-400 mm Fuji lens which recently needed some repair. It is very light and fairly long but fits well into a regular backpack. This may be one of the lightest lenses with this reach. The image quality is excellent. Autofocus is modestly fast. I felt it was better when shooting video than still images. There is significant vignetting at 600 mm. There is some distortion at the periphery. I felt the 100-400mm was superior at every distance compared to this lens. So you get this lens for the reach. If 400mm is adequate I would prefer 100-400 mm lens even though it is heavier. The minimum distance is about 2 meters. The F2 200 mm lens is far superior to both these lenses at double the price. I need the reach for wildlife which is the main reason I would keep this lens.

Better than I am

Since I already had a 100-400 lens, I purchased this lens for the reach. And it was the 400-600 range that I was most interested in. I initially started comparing them with the idea that I might return this lens or keep it and sell my 100-400. However I have decided to keep both of them. My only issue with the lens is that I have a hard time focusing it. Initially this led me to worry that the lens might not be sharp. However after some careful and methodical experimentation I decided the difficulty was with me and not the lens. I did the following to check it. 1. put it on a tripod. 2. put it on manual focus. 3. turn off image stabilization. 4. take images at various focal settings. I also compared this to my 100-400 and 50-140 lenses and with and without a 2x extender. My conclusion was that it is difficult to focus if the scene is cluttered. Using auto focus it almost never picked the thing I wanted it to focus on. But that is no doubt the fault of the scene and the fact that most of it would be out of focus. The picuture is at 600mm and the focus is on the water falling down from the infinity pool. It is not focused on infinity

Has the X-E4 been optimized via firmware to operate optimally with this lens?
Asked by: Leigh
No. The FUJIFILM XF 150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR Lens was just recently announced on May 31, 2022. The most recent firmware update for the FUJIFILM X-E4 Mirrorless Camera was Ver.1.10 released on February 28, 2022. You would need to wait for a firmware update released after the lens is available for it to possibly be designed for optimizing performance, but the FUJIFILM XF 150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR Lens should be compatible for use with the FUJIFILM X-E4 Mirrorless Camera once it is available without the need of a firmware update.

Mostly metal, with plastic/rubberized material on the focus/zoom rings. All very premium. Nothing about this lens feels "cheap".
