Versatile Zoom for Content Creators
A standard zoom purpose-built for content creators and image-makers with a penchant for motion, the FUJIFILM XF 18-120mm f/4 LM PZ WR covers a versatile focal length range and features an inspired design for intuitive control over zoom, focus, and aperture adjustment from the camera body. This zoom is the first X Series lens built in collaboration with FUJINON cine and broadcast lens designers and is a go-to all-around lens choice for video and motion applications.
Designed for Motion
Featuring variable power zoom and smooth manual focus, and supporting stepless aperture control from select cameras, this 18-120mm enables precise, fine control over focus and exposure. Cameras already confirmed to be able to perform stepless aperture control for this lens include the FUJIFILM X-H2S, X-T4, X-T3, and X-S10.
  • Power zoom can easily and smoothly transition throughout the focal length range. This mechanism can be controlled by a newly designed zoom lever, which offers variable zoom speeds.
  • Conventional focus ring allows direct and intuitive manual focus control and the lens offers seamless switching between continuous autofocus and manual focus. Requiring a camera firmware update, this unique control method opens up the possibilities for making creative focus transitions and control the focal point whenever required.
  • Two custom function buttons can be used to preset a constant zoom speed, focal length, or focus point.
Flexible Zoom and Advanced Optics
  • Spanning a useful wide-angle to mid-telephoto range, this zoom offers a 27-183mm equivalent focal length range to serve as a viable single lens solution for everyday shooting.
  • Constant f/4 maximum aperture offers consistent illumination throughout the zoom range, which pairs well with the constant nature of the focusing, AF, and zoom controls.
  • Three aspherical elements control distortions and spherical aberrations in order to produce sharper imagery with more accurate rendering.
  • Three extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range for a high degree of clarity and color accuracy.
  • Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth, circular bokeh quality when using shallow depth of field and selective focus effects.
Intuitive Handling and Robust Construction
  • Benefitting its use on gimbal stabilization devices, this lens's internal zoom and internal focusing design helps to maintain consistent balance and overall lens length during use.
  • Despite the inclusion of a power zoom mechanism and a broad focal length range, this lens still weighs in at just about 1 lb, making for a lightweight design that helps maintain compatibility with a variety of stabilization tools.
  • Weather-resistant design protects against dust and moisture and cold temperatures down to 14°F.
  • Front fluorine coating protects against water, grease, dirt, and smudging, and also makes it easier to clean the front element.

FUJIFILM XF 18-120mm F4 R LM PZ WR Reviews

Great lens but can't be 5 stars

By JAKE

There's a ton to like about this lens. The images are acceptably sharp for a 6.6X zoom and the reasonably bright constant aperture are nice. It's very lightweight and the power zoom feature is outstanding for video. For whatever reason Fuji omitted the aperture ring which is very disappointing but the biggest flaw is the exposure stepping while zooming. One of, if not the biggest, benefits of a constant aperture zoom lens is the ability to keep your exposure the same while zooming in and out. Not possible with this lens. The exposure automatically darkens as you zoom in DESPITE all of your settings remaining constant. It's a known issue and many speculate that it's not something that can be fixed with a firmware update rather it's built into the design. It's not a deal breaker for me, but I'm not doing any paid gigs. If I was, it absolutely would be out of the question.

Good travel lens

Hi, Unfortunately I haven't seen here a lot of positive reviews for this product and in my opinion this lens is not only useful for taking videos but also great for taking pictures, when traveling! Useful focus range, internal zoom , internal focusing and weather-resistant design, 72mm filter size (same as in FUJIFILM XF 10-24mm) - all are great features for landscape photography! I've attached some examples of what this lens is capable of producing (taken in Greece). Happy hunting :)

Great all-around lens!

This lens has replaced my 18-55 kit lens. The focal length range is incredible and the video centric controls are pretty smooth. I would have liked a faster aperture, but for the price, this lens does its job beautifully. I have mostly used it for video but the photos are of a good quality as well. The weight is a big plus and size is about the same as the 55-200 (not extended).

The best lens for video recording!!!!

This lens is super smooth, it is my go to for recording. The powered zoom is very nice

Not usable as intended

First off, I am full Fuji now and really hate to leave this rating on their product, but it suffers from the one thing they promised it fixed, exposure stepping. It has 2 exposure steps. Other than that, for video it is fine. it is a power zoom which is really nice and it does not extend as it zooms so it is ideal for a gimbal, but again, your footage will change exposure. I was going to give it two stars BUT there was nothing to save this lens.. it is not good for photography as it is not sharp at all, especially in the corners.

Awkward power zoom

I wrote an earlier more positive review but after trying out the lens I have opted to return it (thank you, BH Photo). I love the size and lightness but the power zoom's two power options I found very difficult to use without a tripod. The manual zoom is smooth but requires a number of turns to reach across its wide range. The 70-300 by comparison has a much shorter travel span. Disappointing.

Could be a great lens, but promised features fall short

Everything this lens is supposed to be should make this lens great. Going from the 18-135mm to this, this lens is sturdier physically and sharper on both extremes of its focal range. Part of the reason I bought this lens was because it is supposed to be parafocal (or nearly) and it promised to be stepless during the zoom when filming. Paired with the XH2-S, this is supposed to be a killer combo. As of March 2023, the Fuji website still says the lens is stepless and even has example footage showing that the exposure doesn't step. Unfortunately, the lens definitely steps and there are dozens of posts complaining about it. After reaching out to Fuji support a few times over the last six months, I've been told that is a known problem that should be addressed j a firmware update. At best, this is true. At worst, it's false advertising. If/when this is fixed, I will update my review - but it's definitely disappointing to see this from a brand that typically gets five stars for every X system lens it produces.

Great lens for video and photography!

I got this lens for my Fuji X-H2S to shoot both video and photography. It is currently my only X-mount glass, though I use some manual vintage lenses adapted. The 18-120 may not be the sharpest one out there or the fastest out there, but it more than makes up for that in versatility, with a nice medium-wide angle and a great reach. Images from it are nice, if not spectacular. I love that the zoom is completely internal, no extending of the front barrel while zooming in/out. This makes it possible to mount on a gimbal without having to rebalance all the time, or it getting too long and awkward. It can also be easily used in a 15mm rail system. The only thing missing here is OIS. Although my in-body IBIS works well with it, so it's not too much of an issue. I would recommend this lens to anyone who needs an all around lens (great for travel!) for their Fuji camera with in-body IBIS.

Is it possible to bypass the zoom motor and just have the lens zoom mechanically (i.e. FULLY mechanically, without the motor)?

This lens will only zoom when attached to a camera. The zoom motor requires power to function, meaning that you won't be able to zoom mechanically without the motor.

The overview states "Conventional focus ring allows direct and intuitive manual focus control" -- does this mean actual mechanical focus control, or is it still "focus-by-wire"?
Asked by: James S
The new XF 18-120mm f/4 R LM PZ WR is still focus-by-wire, but has a focusing mechanism/system akin to a linear focus drive that helps manual focusing feel more responsive and intentional.

How does the image quality and AF compare to the Fujifilm 18-135mm?
Asked by: TRAVIS
Optically the FUJIFILM XF 18-120mm f/4 LM PZ WR Lens and the FUJIFILM XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens are comparable. They both also have fast smooth autofocus. The key differences are mostly related to video. The 18-120mm has the benefit of being a power zoom lens with internal zoom. It is also parfocal and supports stepless aperture control from select cameras. The 18-120 also has a constant f4 aperture as opposed to a variable aperture on the 18-135. The 18-135 has the benefit of being a stabilized lens.

I read that this lens has click-less aperture ring. My question is, can this be disabled, to allow the aperture ring to click as it turns?
Asked by: Jonathan
No, it is not click less the FUJIFILM XF 18-120mm f/4 LM PZ WR Lens. It is Step less Control from Select Cameras. So that means it is infinitely adjustable in terms of the aperture but from the camera.

Can I put an ND filter with the lens hood on? The XF16-80mm f4 does not allow me to do this, some Fujinon lenses do though.
Asked by: Charlez
A standard ND filter should fit on the FUJIFILM XF 18-120mm f/4 LM PZ WR Lens even with the lens hood on. One should be able to use an ND filter with the FUJIFILM XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens as well. This will depend somewhat on the specific filter, as there will be more trouble with a filter that flares out. It would be worth trying to put the hood on and then the filter, or the reverse, to see which you find easiest.
