The Sherpa Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with FPH-42QS Arca-Type Ball Head from Fotopro is a lightweight and versatile carbon fiber travel tripod with an Arca-Type compatible ball head. It has a load capacity of 17.6 pounds and a maximum height of 59.6" yet folds down to a compact length for storage or travel. The center column can be removed, and the legs spread out wide for low-perspective shooting from a height of just 14.4". Once removed, the center column can also be combined with the removable leg to form a monopod for moving more quickly, like when shooting action or wildlife.

Fotopro Sherpa Travel Tripod with FPH-42QS Ba... Overview

The center column incorporates a ballast hook that can add stability by suspending a weight beneath the tripod. The hook can be unscrewed to reveal that it doubles as a wrench for making adjustment to the tripod, and also to reveal a storage compartment that contains an adjustable smartphone clip with an Arca-type mounting base.

FPH-42QS Arca-Type Ball Head

The FPH-42QS dual panoramic ball head offers rotation at the base and under the quick release platform. It has two bubble levels and includes an Arca-type compatible quick release plate. It provides tension adjustment and has a numbered scale on the base for precision movement.

Monopod Leg with Padded Grip

One leg of the tripod features a padded grip for added comfort and grip. It can be unscrewed and attached to the removable center column to form a convenient 61.8" tall monopod for situations when a tripod is too bulky or slow, like when shooting sports or wildlife.

Center Column with Accessory Storage and Ballast Hook

The center column is operated with a rapid release knob with an ergonomic three-wing design, with a buffered movement design to prevent sudden accidental movement that may cause camera or lens damage. It is made of carbon fiber and features a ballast hook for added stability. The ballast hook unscrews to reveal a storage compartment that contains a smartphone holding clip and a leg wrench for adjusting the tripod.

Removable Rubber Feet

Each leg has a rubber foot for traction on most surfaces, which can be removed to reveal a steel spike for use on slick or icy surfaces.

Dual Expansion Holes for Added Versatility

The leg spider incorporates dual threaded accessory mounts that allow accessories to be attached via a magic arm or similar extension. Easily add a microphone, compact LED light, monitor, or more to create custom setups. The included leg wrench can be combined with the included smartphone holder to act as a magic arm and monitor.

I don't think there is anything else comparable to this one in functionality for the price (I bought it on sale). Most of the features are listed in another review, but what is not mentioned is that it has a central column built-in extension! That is a great feature because while this tripod is very lightweight and compact it can bring the camera to your eye-level (for most people). Granted, it's not as stable as three legs but in a pinch it could be your back saver. Of course, nowadays many cameras have a flip screen, but many still don't, and I am truly impressed by this little guy. Add to this great load capacity and you have a winner. I have another two Fotopro tripods and they are all excellent at what they do. This one is highly recommended.

I was a little apprehensive at first when I bought this tripod+ballhead because it was not a brand I recognized. But having examined the product, it is every bit as good or even superior to another European brand that I had bought before. The machining of the parts are precise and it is indeed a travel tripod that now fits in my carry-on. The Arco-type quick mount is one of the things that sold the product to me. At a hefty 17-lb capacity, it is all I need as an all-purpose tripod, even good enough for my 200-400 f4 Nikkor beast of a lens. There are two levels that allows for horizontal or vertical leveling. Nothing was left to chance in this tripod product. Even the tools for configuring are included. It also functions as a monopod using one leg of the tripod and the center column. Having both spikes and rubber feet allow it to handle various terrain. And have I told you about the fact that is mostly carbon fiber and therefore very light. After buying this tripod with all its features, functionality, and included accessories, I have not had to buy anything else.
