Equipped with an overall capacity of 160TB that is made of up 8 x 20TB 7200 rpm Ultrastar Enterprise-class hard drives, the Shuttle 8 delivers sequential read speeds of up to 1900 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1900 MB/s, which is more than enough to drive multi-stream 4K, 8K, and VR workflows. When configured as a RAID 5, the Shuttle 8 delivers read speeds of up to 1690 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1490 MB/s. In terms of connectivity, this array is equipped with two 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports, one of which is used for host connectivity and up to 85W of power delivery, while the other remains available for daisy-chaining up to five additional devices, including drives, 4K displays, and more, all through a single cable connection.
SanDisk Professional built the G-RAID Shuttle 8 with a hardware RAID controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 1E, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60, each of which provides performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not need a RAID, JBOD is also available. The system comes preconfigured as RAID 5 and formatted for macOS 11 and later, although the system may be reformatted for other RAID modes as well as Windows 10 and later. Included is a Thunderbolt 3 cable and an IEC power cable, while protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty.
