Apple M1 Max

Packed with 57 billion transistors, the Apple M1 Max integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). Built with 5nm process technology, the Apple M1 Pro delivers the performance you need without sacrificing power efficiency. The 10-Core CPU features eight performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. The 16-Core Neural Engine provides support for on-device machine learning acceleration and improved camera performance. The M1 Pro offers up to 400 GB/s of memory bandwidth as well as support for up to 64GB of unified memory. The efficient architecture of M1 Pro means they deliver the same level of performance whether MacBook Pro is plugged in or using the battery. With up to a 32-Core GPU, the M1 Max can provide up to four times faster GPU performance than the M1. M1 Max also offers an enhanced media engine that features two ProRes accelerators for even higher multi-stream performance. As a result, professionals can edit up to 30 streams of 4K ProRes video or up to seven streams of 8K ProRes video in Final Cut Pro. Video editors can even grade color in HDR on 8K ProRes 4444 video while on battery.

16.2" Liquid Retina XDR Display

Featuring mini-LED technology, this MacBook Pro houses a 16.2" Liquid Retina XDR display. Delivering up to 1,000 nits of sustained, full-screen brightness, a high 1,600 nits of peak brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a billion colors, the Liquid Retina XDR display can handle the extreme dynamic range of HDR content, providing detailed shadows, brilliant specular highlights, deeper blacks, and vivid colors. The display is less than 4 mm thin, which is achieved by having seven films and diffusers that mix and shape the light efficiently. The oxide thin film transistor (TFT) allows pixels to charge twice as fast as before.

ProMotion - Up to 120 Hz Refresh Rate

With ProMotion technology, the MacBook Pro automatically varies the refresh rate to match the motion of your onscreen content. This helps preserve battery life while also making tasks feel more fluid and responsive. This means that the display can have up to a 120 Hz refresh rate. Video editors will also have the option to lock in a refresh rate that is optimal for their footage.

P3 Wide Color Gamut

The narrow-band LED-powered backlight allows the MacBook Pro to represent the P3 wide color gamut for brilliant, true-to-life color in photos and videos.

I dearly missed my 2011 17-inch MBP. It had great screen and keyboard real estate. It was a powerhouse (at the time) for mobile video editing...it was my main battle station. This is the first Apple product since, that gives me the confidence the 17 had. Power, inputs, real estate, even the speakers. The performance is a given, but wow. For the first in a very long time, it has function AND form again.

Not sure if this is a very critical review, as I generally like Mac products, but this machine is as you expect. Runs well, looks good, good keyboard. I like the 16 screen. I do miss my iMac for its big screen, but I was looking to do more remote, remote working.

It's very fast and powerful, of course, but it was so easy to set up. I always dread setting up a new computer because it's a pain, for example, to get the printer hooked up via wifi and all the right drivers. It literally took seconds to get the printer to work this time. Nice.

This Apple MacBook Pro exceeds my expectations! As a photographer I bought this specifically for working in Photoshop and Lightroom. There is an instantaneous response time when opening the program and rendering photography edits. I also cannot say enough about the outstanding customer service that I had at B&H Photo. The representative answered all of my questions concerning the best configuration of the computer and helped me with other products that I purchased with the Laptop. I ordered this product in late afternoon and by noon the following day I had my computer in Florida.

I decided to sell my Windows Gaming laptop and move over to the Apple Macbook Pro M1 Max. It definitely took some time getting used to all of the ins and outs of the Mac world - but I'm glad I made the switch! Absolutely stellar product and the build quality is amazing!

Photographers--are you able to get a print that ...

Photographers--are you able to get a print that matches what you see on the screen with their "preset"? I ask because apparently you cannot calibrate with an external device like you can with the old macs.
