Ultra-Wide Zoom, Ultra-Versatile Design
Compact with wide-angle versatility, the Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM pairs a portable design with a flexible focal length range ideal for landscape, architecture, and street subjects. Complementing the ultra-wide to wide range is also an Optical Image Stabilizer to reduce camera shake and a stepping AF motor that suits both photo and video uses.
Portable Zoom
  • Covering ultra-wide to wide-angle fields of view, this lens spans a useful range of focal lengths for a variety of subject types, including landscape, architecture, interiors, and street applications.
  • Modest variable maximum aperture contributes to a compact, lightweight design that's ideal for travel and walkaround shooting.
  • Two UD (ultra-low dispersion) glass elements control a variety of chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color accuracy.
  • One aspherical element reduces spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
  • Super Spectra Coating minimizes flare and ghosting for greater contrast when working in strong lighting conditions.
  • Configurable Control Ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
Autofocus and Image Stabilization
  • An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 5.5 stops, or 7 stops with coordinated IS, to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
  • STM stepping motor offers fast, quiet, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for video recording as well as still shooting.
  • Close-up focusing capabilities enables working with a 1:2 maximum magnification and a 5.1" minimum focusing distance to suit photographing nearby subjects.

Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Reviews

A little large

No doubt about its optics and construction, but it was a bit heavy and large to consider as an alternative to the 14-35 for hiking. Decided to return.

Nice wide angle combo lens, Great price

I shoot mainly product and vehicles, so this lens is put in service mainly for interior work, where confines are tight. I generally use this lens between 20mm and 28mm, which provides a field of view that covers the width of a car interior. At these lengths, the distortion, once corrected in Lightroom is minimal. Since most of my work is static, and I generally do not need a lot of bokeh (or don't want it), I am shooting in the f/8-16 range from fixed camera positions, at 100 ASA, with extended exposure times, so the f/4.5-6.3 limitation of this lens is not an issue. I do plan on picking up a primary 24mm lens with Macro to take on close up and wide angle work where controlling depth of field is a factor for products and close space detail shots, so I have no need for the 15-30 to also fill that need. While the 15mm end of this lens does present some distortion, Lightroom does a good job working that out, and as noted, I rarely push things that wide. This is a great lens for walking around, and works as a companion to my 24-240 lens, which, when put together, gives me what I need for a very wide range of purposes.

It gives me the extra wide angle I needed.

It gives me the extra wide angle I needed. I take pictures and videos of model toy trains and wanted a perspective that was right on the layout. Good pictures, nice depth of field. See my YouTube Page Herbert W Koch

I selected this lens to use on my eos rp. I love Canon L lenses but can't afford them. While this is clearly not built like an L lens I find it difficult to tell the difference in my photos. I'm a very happy camper.

Great lightweight lens with excellent IS performance

This is a great lens for photographing houses handheld - The IS works down to a 1/4 second exposure if you're using good technique.

Great lens for the price

I've always been leary of variable aperture lenses but the price was too good to pass up. I gave it a try and I was really impressed. Light, compact and image quality is really good. My only negative is that the lens has no AF/MF switch. You have to change that through the menu within the camera menu.

A great walk around lens for the R50 or R7

I purchased this as mainly a walk around lend for the R50 I picked up a few months ago (Great little camera - huge value for the money) This lens is so light and easy to cary in addition to the 18-150 that I keep on the r50 most of the time. The extra 3mm do make a difference with you are dong some landscape pics on the fly. Love it - have not tried it with my R6 yet but I am sure it will be great on that camera too.

Exactly what it is stated to be!

Perfect addition to my lens types. Fits and works perfectly with my camera.
