A sharp, decently fast lens...and anamorphic!! This lens has the anamorphic magic, the special something. I love what it does to both film and photos. Easily wins a spot in my top 5 favorite lenses ever.

Using the aps-c crop on S5 and 4:3 anamorphic modes gives a beautiful image. When using full frame modes, it is possible to get a usable 16:9 image with a crop. Absolute no brainer.

Got this for a VERY fair price during CyberWeek sales. I always check out B&H FIRST ... before wasting time looking for deals elsewhere. Plus ... I always know B&H has my back. I consider this FREE insurance!

Dark corners in APSC mode (m43 is fine)

I bought the 35mm lens + Sony e-mount adapter in one transaction. According to a few reviewers, the APSC/m43 (35mm, f1.8) lens could be used on a full frame Sony using its Clear Image Zoom at 1.2x (full frame mode), but that was NOT case with my latest experience. This 35mm anamorphic lens' image circle, to my eyes, is strictly designed for m4/3 cameras. For (e-mount adapted) Sony users, once you enter the APSC mode, you will still find dark corners, and the only way to get rid of them is to use 1.3x(in APSC mode). If I had known this, I would have simply chosen Sirui's competitor: Sigma 18+35mm f1.8. At least it doesn't give dark corners and has the same Field of View (as the Sirui anamorphic has a 47mm horizontal focal length now which means little advantage over Sigma's 35mm APSC). And on the side note, Sirui really should not advertise the lens as an APSC/m43 dual-frame model, simply because dark corners are clearly visible in APSC mode and the wording is misleading.

Very Impressive!

I rented the MFT version of it for a wedding over the weekend to try it out. There is a comparison video out there where the guy does the showdown between this lens and the well-known Sigma 18-35mm zoomed to 35mm in order to match. Simply put, this lens looks like a prime/anamorphic version of the Sigma! Some people are h8-as when it comes to the Sigma saying it's too sharp. I personally love it but....whatever. The Sirui closely matches that sharpness and since anamorphics typically get dinged for being too soft, this one ROCKS! I will be getting one. Now...MFT or L-mount? MFT is on sale now for $349 and that is difficult to beat!

Love this lens!

This lens, it's my second copy for another camera system. It isn't only for the anamorphic look it's for 21:9(2:4:1) without cropping the top and bottom off like with Spherical lenses cutting away your resolution but the colors and textures are also gorgeous!

Well Sirui sells several adapters but not one for EF. The MFT adapter can be screwed off and replaced with the Z for example.

It could certainly be used for photography, however as an Anamorphic Cinema Lens it would not be the kind of lens we'd recommend for that application.
