Aputure MT Pro-1 Overview

By B&H Photo's
Compact and versatile, the Aputure MT Pro RGB LED Tube Light is a 1' full-color LED tube light that is well-suited for in-camera practical effects and hiding in small spaces. This small light features the same RGBWW LED technology and wireless connectivity via DMX or Bluetooth as other professional Aputure fixtures. The MT Pro comes with built-in special effects and pixel-chase sequences.
Advanced Color Quality
Packed in this 1' tube are 36 individual RGBWW LED pixels that are individually mappable to create dynamic chases or to precisely match atmospheric lighting. These pixels are highly responsive and enable smooth color transitions at high speeds. The tube boasts stepless dimming from 0-100% and fully attunable green/magenta balance. Natural whites are adjusted using a CCT mode while a vibrant spectrum of colors is controlled by industry standard X/Y, RGB, or HSI protocols. A high degree of adjustability allows the MT Pro to reproduce more than 90% of colors within Rec. 2020 color space with an up to SSI 84 color rating.
Flexibility Features
Bluetooth connectivity via the Sidus Link app allows one to take full advantage of both the MT Pro's host of lighting control features and its low-profile form factor. This wireless connectivity option is invaluable for adding quick accents when shooting on location while also providing a platform for the tube light to interface with the rest of the products within the Aputure and amaran lighting ecosystems. For those that prefer more traditional control methods, a built-in LumenRadio CRMX transmitter networks the MT Pro with any standard lighting control system. For wired DMX connections, a USB-C to 5-Pin XLR adapter is available separately.

The MT Pro is easily rigged using either one of its three mounting options. Built-in magnets on the rear of the unit make setting this light a clean and safe process regardless of the environment. When it needs to be affixed to C-stands and other grip equipment, the tube accepts 1/4"-20 studs in threads located on the bottom and side of the fixture. Aputure has included a small ball-head tripod to use the MT Pro as a quick full color practical light or as a key light for tabletop shooting. The built-in battery supports up to 120 minutes of illumination at full power and charges quickly via a USB-C connection.

Would this be effective as a hair light for video?
Asked by: Mandi
This light has fairly low output but if your other lights were not too powerful you may be able to use this light very close on a tight shot but just out of range. But please see the output below to check if it will make sense with your existing lights. 180° at 2000K 7 fc / 78 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m* 6 fc / 70 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m (with Grid) 26 fc / 289 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m 23 fc / 257 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m (with Grid) *Standardized Measurement Supplied by the Manufacturer 180° at 3200K 13 fc / 144 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m* 11 fc / 129 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m (with Grid) 49 fc / 532 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m 44 fc / 476 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m (with Grid) *Standardized Measurement Supplied by the Manufacturer 180° at 5600K 14 fc / 159 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m* 13 fc / 142 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m (with Grid) 54 fc / 585 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m 48 fc / 523 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m (with Grid) *Standardized Measurement Supplied by the Manufacturer 180° at 10000K 12 fc / 139 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m* 11 fc / 125 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m (with Grid) 47 fc / 514 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m 42 fc / 460 Lux at 1.6' / 0.5 m (with Grid)

Is MT Pro waterproof?
Asked by: Lance
According to the manufacturer, no; unlike the MC Pro, the Aputure MT Pro-1 Tube Light Kit does not feature a waterproof construction, largely due to the additional heat generated by the module that controls its high pixel density.

Can the Aputure MT Pro be powered directly by the included USB Type-C cable, or does that charge the battery only? IE, can you run it all day using the cable, as opposed to only 2 hours with the battery?

This light only consumes 9w. If your USB-C charger is delivering more than that amount then you would be able to run indefinitely.
