WD Desktop Reviews
Good value hard drive storage
I am using this Western Digital Elements Desktop 3.0 External Hard Drive to back up my Mac Studio using its Time Machine application. The drive needed to be formatted for Mac APFS format using Mac's Disk Utility. I measured its Sequential Read (232 MB/Second) and Write (232 MB/Second) using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test and Amorphous DIsk Mark and got similar results. If you decide to use this drive for TIme Machine do the registration of the drive for warranty before setting it up for Time Machine. Once the drive is formatted for TIme Machine, WD online registration won't be able to detect it, and you will have to call WD Support to get it registered. I purchased the drive for $245 which was a great price for so much storage. I liked the drive enough to order a second one, this time a 14TB WD Elements Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from B&H for a sale price of $169.99. Both hard drives use the same power supply, so I can switch these drives weekly to give me a WD Elements back up drive in reserve and one on line.
