SmallHD INDIE 5 Overview

The compact and lightweight INDIE 5 Touchscreen On-Camera Monitor from SmallHD provides professional monitoring in a sharp 5" LCD with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 10-bit 4:2:2 Rec. 709 color processing, 1000 cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, touchscreen-only control, and updated SmallHD PageOS 5 firmware. It features HDMI and 3G-SDI inputs and outputs.

The INDIE 5 features a handy touchscreen lock slider, so you don't have to worry about accidentally touching the screen when it's in use. Using the intuitive SmallHD PageOS 5, you can turn on and save pages of various monitoring tools and focusing aids with a finger tap. It also features a settings dashboard, preconfigured pages and tabs, templates, exposure assist, overlays, function buttons, and numerous improvements. You can also utilize optional RED camera control via the monitor's micro-USB port.

The monitor is powered using the DC barrel input with a DC adapter, and its durable aluminum chassis protects the monitor in any production environment.

Yes, the Page 5 OS built into the SmallHD INDIE 5 has a custom false color tool. The custom false color tool gives you the ability to create up to 10 custom IRE ranges and to assign specific colors to the ranges.

When comparing the SmallHD CIne 5 with the Indie 5 using the B&H item comparison tool, I can see that the Indie 5 has half the brightness (1000 nits compared to 2000 nits). The indie is powered with a 10VDC barrel and the Cine with an industry standard 2 pin LEMO input,.The Indie has Micro-USB for firmware updates and Cine 5 has a 5-pin LEMO. The Indie has SingleSlot:SD/SDHC/SDXC and the Cine 5 does not.
