5.7K 360° Video, 4K Single-Lens Mode
Dual 360° lenses on the X3 can capture up to 5.7K video and 72MP photos with ease. You can switch to single-lens shooting and record 4K video at up to 30 fps. For extremely wide-angle 170° shots, turn on MaxView mode with 2.7K resolution.
AI-Powered Reframing
AI reframing tools automatically reframe your shot in 360° while you toggle between different capture modes. "Me" Mode creates the effect of an invisible selfie stick and films video up to 1080p at 30 and 60 fps. The effect creates the equivalent of 5.7K reframing and supports 16:9 and 9:16 aspect ratios. This AI interface eliminates the need to reframe your footage in post while capturing aerial angles and third-person perspectives, no matter the selfie stick configuration.
Audio Algorithm Updates
The X3 can capture stereo audio with reduced wind noise and 360° enhancement. Using four built-in microphones and an upgraded audio algorithm, the X3 records more natural and balanced audio than its predecessor. It also allows you to use Voice Control 2.0 to switch your settings when your camera is mounted out of reach on a selfie stick or head strap.
Ultrasmooth, Stabilized Footage
The X3 ensures your footage remains stabilized thanks to its 6-axis gyroscope and FlowState Stabilization technology. 360° active HDR mode is specifically designed for action sports like ziplining and mountain biking by keeping your video stable as you move while maintaining details in the highlights and shadows for more vibrant footage. Horizon lock keeps the horizontal plane of your video consistent and allows the camera to rotate freely while keeping the sky-line level.
New Recording Modes
Shoot up to 8K 360° timelapse and 4K resolution slow-motion bullet time video at 120 fps.
Pre-recording mode helps anticipate the action before it happens by beginning a recording 15 to 30 seconds before the shutter is pressed. This ensures you capture the exact moment you reel in the big fish of the day or surf the best wave. When enabled, the camera records audio and video continuously for the interval of your choice, but it only saves to your SD card when the shutter is pressed.
Loop recording continuously records video while simultaneously saving every minute of recording into separate files. This saves memory card space and can turn the X3 into a dashcam.
Upgraded Controls and Monitoring
A larger 2.29" touchscreen on the back of the camera provides a clear view of your footage as you shoot it. Four operating buttons with vibration feedback toggle between shooting modes for quick control.
50% faster Wi-Fi and upgraded Bluetooth 5.0 technology provide faster file transfers compared to the previous model for faster editing with the iOS/Android app.
AI Editing and Photo Animator
Using the Insta360 app with your smartphone, you can easily edit clips for social media with new effects and modes. A regularly updated database of creative effects provides easy-to-use templates like Nose Mode, Sky Swap, and Street Lapse. Have the app turn your 360° photos into animated videos with the Photo Animator using AI facial recognition and preset effects.

Forced Download App, Make Account, & Update BEFORE Use

Really was looking forward to using this for the first time on a recent outdoors trip.
Every other GoPro, Ricoh, etc product I ever used you just plug it in and go.
Of course this product did not come with a micro SD card but after getting that in I thought I would be up and running. Nope!
Not only do you need to download an App that is about 1.1 GB (massive while exploring the outdoors / why is it even that large??) but when the app opens you will find yourself in the depths of a really poorly thought out UI/UX onboarding.
You have to give the app SO MANY permissions (why again??) and it is very confusing to set it up properly. The buttons are greyed out and pressing anywhere opens up a prompt directing you to your phone settings (total goose chase.)
After about 1 hour later and a few failed support attempts a user on Reddit published how to actually do it.
Next step... make an account? Seriously? There should be zero reason to do this. Why do you need an App or an account to use a camera?
After finally setting that part up it turned on.
1st impression with the camera: the swiping on the screen is so annoying. This is why buttons are so much better. Unless you use this thing in a museum it's going to get smudges and the poor reflexivity of the tiny chip won't be able to interpret swipes and instead of recording you will enter settings... instead of exiting settings it will shift to photo mode... instead of moving back to video mode you are now in gallery. Total mess.
After playing around with that I finally got an image out of it and the seam is massive. Reminds me of the 360º cameras from the 2015 era. Not quality at all and very obvious.
This seems to unfortunately be par for the course now as these aren't even media devices. I think they are actually just hoovering up your data and getting you into their system.
Photo and video used to be fun. This device is not. Look elsewhere.
Fun Camera (but software needs some love)

I bought the X3 for music videos and social media content for my job. The editing software is fairly intuitive once you understand the basic tools. It’s all about keyframes (these are markers that you drop on the timeline of the footage at certain points in time). You then adjust where the camera should be looking + how zoomed in/out, and the software will ‘tween’ smoothly from one keyframe (angle/zoom) to the next. I first used their desktop editing software for a music video, but they make IOS version too for phone/tablets. The cameras quality is similar to a GoPro (not so great in low light), but this cam’s biggest benefit (other than adding dynamic movement to an operator-less camera) is that you can be hastier about where it is placed and also I really like that you can produce both vertical and horizontal content from the same source footage (good for social media people). The camera can be remote controlled via bluetooth/wifi so (at work) I’m able to be in the next room putting it into record and downloading the clips to my phone for local editing. Pretty amazing tech for under $400 bucks. I'm tempted to replace my GoPros with these.
The only cons I have are the (desktop) software has some weird quirks and the tutorials provided are for a version from 4 years prior. Odd things like: you can't save a copy as on a project. You can only open 'recent projects' (they autosave as they're left). And I can't find a way to nudge clips less than in 1-second increments. This made syncing music to my video frustrating, because either way I was a half second early or late. I had to reprint the audio in a DAW (starting a half second later) to get it to lineup in the 360 video app.

If you purchase the Insta360 X3 360° Camera in the USA, the only issue would be that a plug adapter from a US plug to the local plug type would be necessary to charge the camera.
