MSI X670E ACE Overview

Equip your rig with your choice of AMD 7000 series Ryzen processors with the AM5 socket, giving you a stable platform across the rest of the motherboard's X670 chipset. Four DDR5 RAM slots allow you to install up to 128GB of memory for greater multitasking and rendering efficiency. With six SATA III and four M.2 PCIe interfaces, you can create a massive library of assets and other important files for your creative needs. Install a wide range of graphics and utility cards with three PCIe 5.0 x16 slots that enable multi-GPU configurations. Between the back panel and internal connectors, you get access to various USB 3.2 Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 2x2 Type-A and Type-C ports, designed to support high-powered devices, displays, and more. Bluetooth 5.2 peripheral support allows you to connect devices wirelessly for a true cable-free experience. Wi-Fi 6E technology allows you to upload files and download important assets over a wireless network and if you prefer a reliable wired connection, an enhanced 10 Gigabit Ethernet port is available. The MEG X670E ACE supports Windows 10 and 11 operating systems.

Hardware Design

Designed to make the most out of AMD's Ryzen 7000 series processors, the MEG X670E ACE features an 8-layer PCB constructed from 2 oz thickened copper internals, two reliable 8-pin CPU power connectors, PCIe Steel Armor slots, Digital PWM, and 22+2+1 power layout to ensure electrical throughput suitable for handling high-powered components. Additionally, you get access to 1-Second Overclocking, Load-Line Calibration, and Overvoltage Protection for enhanced power performance.

Cooling Capabilities

To properly maintain thermal performance across your entire system, the MEG X670E ACE utilizes stacked fin array design, direct touch heat pipe, and an enlarged PCH heatsink that efficiently dissipates heat. High-quality 7W/mK MOSFET thermal pads and baseplate work together to decrease heat buildup around the capacitors for better heat transference. A double-sided M.2 Shield Frozr thermal solution is designed to keep your M.2 storage drives safe, prolonging the lifespan of your files and installed systems. The MEG X670E ACE supports All-in-One (AiO) water cooling radiators for internal system and CPU cooling. Fan headers detect fans running in DC or PWM modes and optimize their performance to maintain silent operation without compromising performance. Additionally, you can manually adjust fan performance through the BIOS or use MSI's AI ENGINE to automatically detect CPU and GPU temperatures and react properly.

DIY Friendly

Whether you are a new or seasoned builder, the MEG X670E ACE includes various improvements designed to enhance your installation process such as the EZ M.2 Clip. The patented design allows you to set your M.2 and Shield Frozr without the annoying screws, providing simple M.2 installation. The dedicated magnetic connectors are placed on PCB and M.2 Shield Frozr. This patented design enables RGB functionality, enhances the installation process, and maximizes the storage performance. MSI Driver Utility Installer will detect and present suitable drivers and utilities automatically and BIOS Flashback enables you to update the firmware without the installation of the CPU and memory. The MEG X670E ACE offers dual BIOS so you can quickly swap from one system specification to the other. Reset Computer, Safe Boot, Turbo Fan, and EZ LED control are enabled with just one click of the back panel's Smart Button. You also get a pre-installed I/O plate, EZ front panel cable, XL clip, debug LEDs, EZ debug LED, EZ LED controls, and a dedicated component keep out zone. The MEG X670E ACE is also Windows 11 certified with ingrained TPM 2.0 security.

Performance Features

MSI PCI Express Steel Armor slots are secured to the motherboard with extra solder points to support the weight of heavy graphics cards. Leverage Lightning Gen 5 for M.2 storage drives, giving you up to 128 Gb/s transfer speeds, suitable for work programs and games. Memory slots utilize a dedicated SMT welding process with MSI Memory Boost technology to deliver enhanced multitasking performance. Resizable BAR (Re-Size BAR) is an advanced PCI Express feature that enables the CPU to access the entire GPU frame buffer at once and improve performance. Secure boot is a security standard to make sure that a device boots using only software that is trusted. When the PC starts, the firmware checks the signature of each piece of boot software, including UEFI firmware drivers, EFI applications, and the operating system. The PC boots while the signatures are valid. Additionally, the M.2 XPANDER-Z GE5 DUAL allows you to add two additional M.2 storage drives accessible through one of the PCIe expansion slots. It also includes a cooling fan to keep your drives cool during heavy operation.

USB Connectors

The Lighting USB 3.2 Gen2x2 controller offers USB speeds up to 20 Gb/s, which is four times faster than USB 3.2 Gen 1 when connecting the rear or front USB Type-C ports. The extra 6-pin PD power connector provides more power to make the normal front USB type-C port a 60W PD port.

Software Enhanced

Adjust various settings within the BIOS with a suite of MSI software utilities including Mystic Light, True Color, User Scenario, Hardware Monitoring, Profile Sharing, Fan Center, and System Diagnosis. AIDA64 Extreme is an application for system information, diagnostics, and benchmarks. The application lets you monitor the detailed hardware and software information on a PC and save it to file in multiple formats such as CSV and HTML.

RGB Lighting

Splash on some color and vibrant RGB lighting effects using MSI Mystic Light with 16.8 million colors and fancy LED effects. MSI Mystic Light provides complete control of RGB lighting in your PC. The Mystic Light Extension pin header provides an intuitive way to control additional RGB strips and other RGB peripherals added to a system, without needing a separate RGB controller.

This is more of a review of B&H themselves. I haven't even received my item yet, but right after purchasing, they gave a call to ensure I wanted to place such a large order. Great customer service so far.

Upon opening this product there where some loose parts, so I had to send it to the manufacturer to get it repaired or replace very inconvenient. Overall it's what I wanted just not what I expected to come in broken.

Is is better to put your programs on the Gen5 ...

Is is better to put your programs on the Gen5 drive and put Windows on the slower Gen4 drive?

The best performance will be if you install both Windows and the software on the drive in the PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slot on the MSI MEG X670E ACE AM5 E-ATX Motherboard.

Does this support unbuffered ECC?

Gigabyte consumer-grade AM5 boards also do not have official ECC support (and lack of official error reporting on AM4 as well), and has even gone out of their way to remove the ECC option in their latest BIOS.
