Dracast LED1000 Plus Overview

This L1000 Plus Series Bi-Color LED 2-Light Kit from Dracast combines two 12 x 12" L1000 Bi-Color LED panels with two light stands to create an ideal run-and-gun on location lighting kit.

Dracast Plus Series LED1000 Bi-Color LED Light Panel

Expanding on their line of panels, the Plus Series LED1000 Bi-Color LED Light Panel from Dracast adds a digital display for adjusting output as well as Cat 5 DMX input and output for linking and comes with both Gold mount and V-mount battery plates. The light features 1024 LEDs with a high CRI of 95 for excellent color accuracy. Also, this model features a variable color temperature from 3200-5600K for quickly matching either daylight or tungsten sources without needing to mess around with gels.

The lights offer a spot beam angle of 45°, as well as dimming from 0-100%. Benefiting operation, it can run from either a DC source, such as a Gold mount or V-mount battery, or a universal 100-240 VAC adapter. The light is durable as well, with an aluminum chassis, frame, and mounting yoke, and it only consumes 60W of power. Additionally, it is lightweight at just 5.5 lb and measures 12 x 12 x 2" in size.

question

The Pictures show this product with the barndoors, but in description or in the box section do not say anything about the barndoors being included. Are they included or need to purchase separately?
Asked by: John
When I ordered my lights they were part of a package deal, including the barn doors, grid and softbox for each light. They fit well and the lights haven't overheated using them. I did order a set of 5 Dracast hard gels.

question

Does the Dracast LED 1000 Pro Daylight put out more foot candles when using the CTO correction for 3200K mode then the Bi-Color 1000 does when in 3200K mode?
Asked by: Anonymous
According to the manufacturer, the LED 1000 Pro Daylight LED Light would have more output with a CTO filter attached to it than the LED 1000 Pro Bi-Color LED Light when set for 3200 Kelvin.

Can anyone tell me if they have used one of these successfully as a key light? I just do corporate interviews and talking heads. Also, if this would make a usable key light, what are folks using for diffusion?
Asked by: David
This light can be used as a key light, but overall conditions will affect your results. For diffusion, these work well https://bhpho.to/2YffQsz.

question

Hi. I'm trying to decide between this, the Ikan 1024, or the Aputure LS 1c. The concern I have with this design and the Ikan is how the battery is mounted to the back of the light. Has anyone had issues with the yoke or using it up high or with a c-stand?
Asked by: Christopher
The power source/battery being separate from the light fixture is nice, but the same can be accomplished with a VariZoom S7101 4-Pin XLR to D-Tap Adapter Cable (<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/379251-REG/VariZoom_S_7101_S7101_4_Pin_XLR_to.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/379251-REG/VariZoom_S_7101_S7101_4_Pin_XLR_to.html</a>) although the V-mount battery placement should not bump into the yoke, but it does add weight. Not a problem for a C stand. I have even used it on a boom pole with adequate sandbag weight. The Dracast is superior to the other LED square panels (CRI, light output, build quality), but like all of these types of 1 x 1 lights you will need diffusion or your talent will see spots and you will get multiple shadows. Chimera makes a great softbox for Dracast/Flolight 1 x 1 Chimera LED Lightbank although a little pricey (<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/869328-REG/Chimera_1670_LED_Lightbank_for_Flolight.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/869328-REG/Chimera_1670_LED_Lightbank_for_Flolight.html</a>) and it will reduce the light output by about half, but makes for very pleasing light. Another advantage is that Dracast includes a free $200 battery, which is well worth it and helps to cover much of the cost of the softbox. However, the best light (size, weight, output, bi-color, focus-able, CRI, remote control via Bluetooth, etc.) would be the Kinotehnik Practilite 602 Smart LED Fresnel (<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1208021-REG/kinotehnik_pract602_practilite_602_smart_led.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1208021-REG/kinotehnik_pract602_practilite_602_smart_led.html</a>), which is what I would recommend and I own both lights. 4 universal speed rings allow adding softboxes, but you really wont need them in most cases with this pleasing light. They give you a lot more control where the light is going unlike the Dracast and the Fresnel lens blends two or more lights together very well. I own 2 and when I can afford it. I will buy another one. I hope this helps.
