I cannot put this down.

This camera goes almost everywhere with me, I grab it like it's my wallet. God I love this thing. The quality of images that this thing puts out is absolutely amazing. The easy to use adjustable dials on the top make manual photography so darn easy. You will never go back to digital controls after using this. You can see exactly where your settings are and make quick adjustments on the fly. The menus are easy to use but it's more of a, Get your ideal settings and never have to touch it again type thing. I only go to the menu to format my card or turn on the timer which itself is a button you can program. Make sure to watch the Pal2Tech YT channel to learn about the best settings. My other camera is a Nikon D750 which I love and will still use for well planned sessions. But my primary camera is certainly the XT-5. Highly recommend this small sized powerhouse. The images I posted are using the Fuji 33mm 1.4 prime which is one of the lens on the list that can utilize the XT-5 40MP sensor.

A Useful but Incremental Upgrade

I've owned each of the cameras in the Fuji X-T* series and I have no second-thoughts about purchasing an X-T5 because it replaced what was previously my back-up body, an X-T3 that I sold at an attractive used-camera price.
But the 40 Mpx sensor really is just an incremental upgrade. The new processor offers better autofocus than was available in the X-T4. But other than Increased resolution and faster focus capture, I haven't experienced any dramatic improvements in image quality, performance, or the ergonomics of the user interface-although the last of those three attributes is quite good, and one of the features that attracted me to the X-T* product line in the first place.
The XT-5 a reasonable upgrade from the X-T[123]. If you already have an X-T4, however, I'd think twice about popping for one of these unless, like me, you want to trade in a back-up body without sensor-based image stabilization.

Having done business with B&H for close to 40 years, it was disappointing to say the least, to pay for a new camera only to receive a previously opened box and camera. It was very obvious the camera had been taken out and battery used. Had I not had an event to shoot the following weekend and having just sold my other fuji camera, it would have been returned. When paying for a new camera you would expect to receive a new camera. Buyer beware. Not pleased with B&H.

40 mp is more than I need for most things. I bought this because it is familiar, having owned the xt20, xt2, xt3, xt4, x-pro3, and the x100v. Image quality is splendid and AF works pretty well. It is light, compact, and retro. I also shoot with Canon, but am using my Canon gear less.

I have owned every generation of Fuji XT series cameras since their inception but the X-T5 is by far the fastest focusing version with the best face detection and eye detection.

I exchanged my X-H2S to the X-T5 because I am focusing more on still than movies. I like the X-T5 because of its style, like the X-T3, you can grasp in one view all the setting. This is important when you need to take a fast picture, you don't have to think which button you have to access to get the setting you need. Colors are great and vivid. The IBIS is fantastic, I can take pictures at 1/2 second and they are very sharp. This is so helpful when you cannot carry a tripod! And focusing is so fast... I recommend this camera.
Problems with highlights

I decided to return my XT-5 after a few weeks. It's truly an impressive machine, but there were two things I could not abide: The build quality and the handling of highlights. These things may not affect you, but if they might, read on.
Build Quality: I felt I could hammer nails with the X-T3, but the X-T5 feels not as well made. From the battery door to the dials, it is not as robust. This is not a surprise- Fuji listened to its customers and made a lighter camera despite adding a larger battery and IBIS, so good for them, but I didn't care for it.
Highlight handling: This camera burns clipped areas in a very unpleasant way, and also makes near-white areas (like white cars) far too bright. A white SUV in the shadows of a building will look like it is in the sun. I tried adjusting the JPG processing parameters, but short of using HDR there is no way to make it look good. This may just be personal preference, but I had issues with the way it renders bright areas. It reminded me of old point and shoots that crammed to many megapixels into a small sensor. Ultimately it was to much work to correct, but if you're willing to shoot mostly RAW and put in the post-processing work, it might be OK for you. I prefer JPG and film simulations, so it didn't work for me.
Again, really impressive machine, but if you buy be sure to test extensively and see if its limitations work for you.
