FUJIFILM X-T5 Reviews
Incredibly Capable Camera

This camera beats out any full frame camera I’ve owned including the Canon 5D with L glass, the Nikon Z 5 with S glass, and all crop framed cameras I’ve owned.
The X-T5, paired with my 18mm 1.4 shows incredibly fine detail and fidelity. I don’t understand anything below a five star review for this stellar camera. Having owned about 35 cameras since the film days, the
X-T5 blows any of those cameras away. Do not hesitate to buy it. It’s an excellent piece of kit. It got a 90 Gold review on DP Review for good reason.

Fujifilm gets closer and closer to perfecting the model with this one. Stunning images, classic controls. I was blown away. Coming from XT2, 3 and 4. Worth the upgrade IMHO.
Not the camera it should be. WARNING!!!! Upgraders beware.

I've owned three previous X-Series cameras.
THIS IS NOT A CAMERS FOR MANUAL FOCUS SHOOTERS!
Fujifilm has dropped the function that clears the preview screen on shutter half press.
...you use peak focus highlighting...half press the shutter and clutter is removed from the screen. NOT ANYMORE. Fuji has removed this.
Your option is to switch to Auto Focus for every shot...or live with the peak focus highlights.
Buy something else...the heck with FujiFilm. They have abandoned manual shooters.
Great Camera, Small details questionable

I have had the XT1, 2, 3, and now the 5. I use the XH2 for work and wanted a smaller body with the flip down screen for travel. This camera is wonderful, just like my XH2. The AF is super quick, face detection works really well. High ISO performance is decent. I think it's quite usable up to ISO 1600. The EVF is really nice compared to the XT3. However, I feel the shutter button is not a great feel like previous models or even close to my XH2. They memory hard door does not close totally flush - I have tried many different cameras and they all have a little Squish when the door is closed. It's strange. I will keep this camera and use it to death, just like the XT3, which I sold with 600k actuations and it still worked flawlessly. Fuji is the best bang for your buck and if you are willing to go a bit bigger in size and don't mind the flip out screen I suggest the XH2, but if you like this style screen and want a smaller body, this camera provides great image quality and has all the manual controls right on the body exterior.

B&H offers even more value with free add-ones like this kit. The memory card is very useful and the bag may be adequate for someone starting out.
Great Ergonomics

Every mirrorless offers great image quality today. The XT-5 is no exception. Ergonomics, the ease of use, and robustness are what differ today. The XT-5 has great ergonomics for a stills camera, which is my use. A video or hybrid creator may be better served by the XH-2 and wildlife and action creators and photojournalists may be better served by the XH-2s, but the XT-5 is ideal for still images and very competent for video and wildlife/action. I would select a camera from this group based on my main use knowing anyone of these cameras can occasionally handle the other situations. Look online for processing solutions. My workflow is based around DxO Photolab 6 (pure raw would also work), Radiant Photo, and Lightroom Classic. Photolab 6 handles Fuji film simulations.
Good idea, though disappointing

I wanted to love it.
I like the ease of use, and it is packed with options, perhaps too many for it's little size. I found it was trying to do all the things the bigger cameras do but just not as well, and the fact that it was not full frame was also distracting. It lacked crispness in focusing. I returned it.
Good and Not So Good

I received my Fujifilm XT-5 and 16-80 zoom a few days ago and promptly set about trying it out.
First, the good: The images deliver very nice resolution, courtesy of the 40 megapixel sensor. I have no complaints about IQ, except that the zoom's sharpness falls off a bit off center, not unexpected. The camera's size is very nice - It's small enough to be a nice travel camera but the controls do not feel cramped. Of course, the grip is sort of minimal, but that helps with the size.
The Not So Good: SA-F is somewhat uncertain and unpredictable. The camera came with firmware 2.2. I just updated it to 2.3. The new firmware seems NOT to have cured the camera's occasional missed focus, although it certainly appears not to be worse. For action or quick shooting situations, this is not the camera for the job. I bought the XT-5 mostly for casual shooting, including nature and landscapes, and it seems to be fine for that, IF I remember to double check focus or take back-up shots.
Also, the histogram is nearly useless. I have exposed with what seemed to be generous highlight headroom and I have to apply substantial highlight recovery in Capture One. No other camera I have ever used did that. Fortunately, the EVF view seems to be reasonably close to the output in RAW.
So, the XT-5 is a mixed bag that more effective firmware updates should make better. It is a camera that I will keep, but it does require some attention to what it wants to do rather than just doing what the photographer wants it to do (Yes, I have used cameras that largely just did what I asked them to do). The output (usually) is very nice, and I hope the camera will only get better as Fujifilm engineers figure out how to optimize it.
