Ideal for a wide range of photo and video applications including landscapes, portraits, street photography, architecture, and events, the 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens from Sigma is a small, light, and bright standard zoom for crop-sensor mirrorless cameras. Offered here with a FUJIFILM X-mount, this lens provides a versatile full-frame equivalent zoom range of 27-75mm and a wide constant aperture of f/2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. The lens design includes three high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements coupled with a special low dispersion element. Together they minimize the total number of elements for superb optical quality without excessive weight. Autofocus is exceptionally fast and quiet thanks to the lens's stepping motor, which can be particularly useful when shooting video or fast-moving subjects such as children and animals. An ultimate workhorse, the lens features a minimum focusing distance of just 4.8", enabling it to be used for macro-style close-up photography, and the lens is also outfitted with a rounded seven-blade diaphragm for a pleasing bokeh quality.

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Reviews
Fun everyday carry lens
Con: 1. Not weather Resistance, but has weather sealed rubber gasket. 2. No image Stabilisation.. (Not a must for a small Lens) most Camera has IBIS anyway. Pro: Lightweight & Compact. Best in it's class for the same category & price. Sharp image quality, reliable and fast enough auto focus. IMHO.. It is worth every $$$ for the Features & Performance you get from this Lens. (Fun & Super light in it's Class).
Using it on my Sony FX30 for documentaries
I'm using this lens on my Sony FX30 for making documentaries. It's the perfect combination of form, function and price. Its light weight and small size makes it easy to carry and store. Its 18-50mm focal length and sharp performance fits the vast majority of my needs when making a documentary. Its price represents very good value. I considered other lenses such as the Tamron 17-70mm (too heavy) and the Sony 24-70mm GMII (too expensive) but I've been very happy with the choice I made.
Great run and gun lens on my Sony FX30
Small, Light, fast. Great for video.
Ideal with X-pro or X-E Fuji cameras.
I am so impressed with this tiny constant f2.8 zoom. Close focusing at wide end is great, will focus closer than the lens hood. Takes up the space of a prime in the camera bag. Ideal for those times you want a zoom option and still want a small light kit. Optically it compares favorably with the Fuji !8-55 variable aperture, yet smaller and lighter. Recommended.
Fantastic Lense
This Lense is so great in terms of quality and budget. Totally worth the purchase.
Love this little lens
So far it's the only non-Fujifilm lens I use on my XH2. Fairly compact and not bulky. Delivers really sharp images.
Excellent zoom lens for XT-5
I bought this with my XT-5 b/c I bought body only and a prime only to realize my prime would not work indoors b/c I could not always get back far enough. This lens has been my savior as it is ultra-light weight, yet has excellent build quality and produces amazing images. The price cannot be beat compared to the Fuji version and the new XT-5 connects to it with no issues.
Excellent walk around lens for Fuji - replaced my primes
If you are not a purist and value practicality over prime perfection, this is a great lens. I swapped 3 primes (18 f2, 23 f2 and 27 f2.8) for this lens and couldn't be happier. Sure I lost a stop of light here and there, and probably some ultimate sharpness, but the practicality of having such a great choice of focal lengths with excellent image quality and contrast is well worth the trade-off. The lens is very light and balances extremely well with my Fuji X-S10. Highly recommended.
