7artisans Photoelectric 18mm f/6.3 II Reviews
Most fun I've had for $60 in a long time...
Fun little lens that gives you that cheap disposable camera look. Not too sharp but you get what you pay for. Just throw it on and shoot. Came packed well and feels solid, focus ring was smooth.
Sorely disappointed
I read all the reviews & looked at some photos on flickr and thought this would be a good lens for street photography. The outdoor photos I get are consistently very soft focus and hazy - i.e not focused. No problem with the tiny screw as others have reviewed. However, I cannot turn the focus ring to line-up the infinity symbol to the red dot, and the adjustment screw will not let me adjust the travel for the direction needed. Purchased from B&H Net net - waste of money.
It's so sharp I can't tell it is a cap lens
It makes my gm5 a pocket camera! Gives me the motivation to practice snapping shots. The tiny bolt on the side controls the focusing travel (infinite focus can be adjusted). The lens could spin off if this tiny screw is losen.
Nice
It's a nice compact lens, It takes good photos so far although I have not used it a lot yet, I'm happy with it,
Good little lens
This is a fun little manual focus lens.
Caution Needed - Loose Screw!
The previous 1 star review is accurate - there is a small flat-head set screw that is loose and needs to be tightened to prevent spontaneous disassembly by twisting the focus ring too far. To fix it, start with the focus ring all the way screwed in (clockwise) until it stops. With the lens front facing down, un-screw until the 0.3 focus mark aligns to the red dot on the lens. With the lens front still pointing down, use a small flat head screwdriver to secure the set screw on the side of the lens focus ring. The lens focus stops should now be secured. With that done, you get what you pay for. This isn't an amazing lens, but it is good fun. The addition of a focus ring is a big benefit overall the previous fixed-focus version.
Functional
Works as described. Great for outdoor travel.
QC Issues
I love the size and vibeyness of this lens, but I've tried two of them and both had issues. The first lens was sharp on the left side of the image, but blurry on the right side, and created strange grid-like pattern in the right corners. The second was sharper, but created a heavy brownish-yellow cast in the top right corner, and had similar grid artifacts.
