High quality compact lens

This lens is very high quality and has quite the small footprint. It hasn't come off my camera since purchasing, and I intend to use it for quite a while. Although gripping the small available edges to twist on and off can be difficult, that just comes with the territory of it being so compact. Can't wait to start to see some of the brass come through!

I love this lens, my intention was to purchase this lens to have as a placement until I could afford a Summilux. After a few weeks of use I’ve become extremely content with the images I’ve been able to produce with the lens. It is very well made, it has a super premium feel, the focusing mechanisms are smooth and effortless, even though I’m still getting used to focusing with a rangefinder. My only two hiccups with this lens are the vignetting when shooting wide open at at 1.5, shooting wide open in general the images give off a contrasty more film like look.. by F4 it’s looks sharp end to end. I’m not a pixel peeper, but I do want more control of how my images look without editing in post. My second issue with the lens is that it won’t be recognized by the Leica body, so your exif data For the lens will not be accurate when you would look it up in post, F stop etc like native Leica glass. It’s not that important but in a situation where you would have to submit the correct exif data you’d have to guesstimate. I’m really pleased with the purpose.. and still can’t get over how premium it feels.

Is the type II silver version chrome plated or painted?
Asked by: Alan
The Type II brass lenses are chromed for silver, and painted for black. Just like the Ultron series.
