    Ewa-Marine EM DU-2 reviews

DU-2 Water Wallet is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked well at first then...! I used it for a Caribbean trip in January 2010 and the pouch worked well for swimming the first three days no leaks while placing it inside my skin suit for added protection. This prevented the rail slide described below... The fourth day disaster occurred when the pouch which uses a sliding rail system somehow slid off in the ocean with my wallet, car key, IDs and other papers. This day I didn't wear the skin dive suit or placed it inside. This was normal surface swimming I never dived or went below 2ft with this pouch. I checked the pouch for perfect seal and teh slide was placed perfectly. The incident happened around 30min after entering the water and seems the swimming and wave motion dislodged it. I was not in the wave crush area just surface snorkeling in very calm waters. After an hour of search some good Samaritans from Argentina found it and handed it to me. It somehow floated with a bit of air in the bag and landed on a shore about 1/2 km away from where I lost it. Papers, money and keys were drenched with sea water but not enough to make the car alarm key to stop working. Good Ford Focus key design! Phewwwww! The pouch gets an extra star because it floated to shore saving a huge amount of chaos and trouble! I have used several pouches from ones with buttons to ziplock dual style seals. This is my first rail system and my last. It is just a flawed design. You need a way to lock the sliding with more than the added friction of the folded PVC. I own several EWA Marine products including the U-B100 SLR Bag which works perfectly and have never had problems with their products. They offer a Ewa-Marine DUS-4 Water Safe Deep Water Magnum Pouch with added twist knobs for tight sealing which would have my full approval as that is the same system as the camera housings. I suggest you get their DUS-4 and skip this one if you plan to swim with important documents, money and keys. I will use this DU-2 one for rain and mild storms on land.
