Really big upgrade for me, extremely light, and the small display is cool too, much easier to balance. I think it may not be great for extreme whip and sport movement, unless there are some specific settings. I am wedding videographer so generally its not that kind of movements.

I bought this gimbal primarily to use for vlogging using a Canon EOS R and a Tamron 17-2mm f/2.8 lens; this combination is well within the weight capacity stated for this gimbal. However, after many attempts to balance it and finding the total weight and style very cumbersome, I found it undesirable for my intended use.

I just received this gimbal and am setting it up for use with my SONY FX30. I know that that camera is not currently on DJI's list of compatible devices for this gimbal, but I wanted to share that as of May 2023 the camera and gimbal will pair over Bluetooth, enabling the gimbal to control the camera. This was one of my questions going into purchasing the gimbal, so hopefully this can help someone else. DJI seems to be pretty slow to update their list of compatible devices and there are currently several SONY cameras (ZV-1, FX30, ZV-E1) on the market that seem like they should work with this gimbal. At least I can confirm that one does.

Even with a near perfect balance and tuning it on the app, this gimbal still gives un-leveled shots. For reference, I'm using a Panasonic GH6 with a 20mm plastic lightweight lens.

like this item very light weight,easy setup and great features, i used it mostly on wedding, birthday parties, baby showers and some home made video of family, what i don't like about it is the small try pod that comes with it had to get a extender .

Currently the gimbal pans but it has micro, jerks. So it does the exact opposite of what you buy a gimbal for. I can shoot hand held much better. The balancing of the item is tricky, but once you get used to it isn't so bad. EXCEPT the rails are very tough to slide on. Very hard to move. I'm shooting with a Canon R5. I think the little motors are at their limit to handle this sized camera although it is very light compared to the Nikon DSLR's I also shoot. Had I the chance to do it over... I'd save my money and buy something more substantial. The problem now is that Ronin has left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe there more expensive gimbals can do the job. I don't know now that I will trust their products. And getting help on the or through their website is difficult.

Wow this gimbal is crazy! Works super well and it small and lightweight. If you are new to gimbals it's a steep learning curve, but well worth it.

I saw on DJI website it supports the Canon R5, does that also mean the R5C? I did not see it listed and it should support the weight since the cameras are similar. Will it have the same functionality and gimble controls?

The Canon R5C is currently not listed as supported on the DJI RS3 Mini. Only the DJI RS3 Pro lists the R5C as supported at this time. The R5C is a larger camera than the R5. Compatibility link - https://bit.ly/3W2W0ic

Is there anyway to tether a remote control for this ronin? such as the smallrig or even DJI tether model?

The DJI RS 3 Mini Gimbal Stabilizer (B&H# DJRS3M) does not currently include any sort of physically tetherable remote control, nor is there any available as an accessory at this time. However, it is possible to use the DJI Ronin app with Bluetooth for wireless camera control.

The Sony FX30 Digital Cinema Camera and the Sirui 35mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens can mount and balance on the DJI RS 3 Mini Gimbal Stabilizer. The gimbal can handle up to 4.4 pound payloads.

We would recommend the DJI RS3 gimbal for your Nikon Z8 payload weight. The RS3 Mini at this time has not been officially tested by DJI with the Nikon Z8. Other lighter weight cameras like the Z7II have been tested and work with the 24-120mm lens on the RS3 Mini. However, the extra weight of the Nikon Z8 calls out for a stronger gimbal like the DJI RS3. DJI RS 3 Gimbal Stabilizer BH #DJRS3
