Key Features
  • RF-Mount Lens/APS-C Format
  • 6.4mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/16
  • 210° Angle of View
Presenting an immensely wide field of view within a truly compact package, the Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye provides a huge 210° angle of view for Canon RF mirrorless cameras. As a circular fisheye, this lens is characterized by its noticeable distortion and bulb-like visual appearance. The greater-than-180° angle of view also enables making full 360° stitched panoramas with just two shots. The lens also sports a bright f/2.8 design for working in available lighting conditions and its manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 3.1" away for true close-up shooting. Additionally, the fisheye design retains almost full depth of field when stopped down to f/5.6 for consistent and even sharpness.

Will this work on a Canon R5? How much of the senaor would be "wasted?"
Asked by: Bruce
The Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Canon RF only provides a circular fisheye in the APS-C sized area of the sensor. This would not use any of the larger Full-Frame sensor area of the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera at all.

Which mattebox works with theses lenses? So the mattebox is not visible in the picture?
Asked by: Philipp
It is not recommended to use a matte box with the Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Canon RF because with the amount of fisheye that this lens has, the matte box will be in the frame. The same thing will happen with a lens hood as well.

Asked by: Bruce
The Canon R5 will be automatically set to Crop mode if you mount the Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Canon RF on it, so you would use only an APS-C size part of the full-frame sensor. The lens will make a circular image surrounded by black in this small section of the sensor.

The Venus Optics Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Nikon Z is for Nikon Z cameras with an APS-C size sensor, including the Nikon Z30 Mirrorless Camera. The lens does produce a circular image. This is not a zoom lens; you could crop out the black border in post but will end up with a small file.
