Perfect rig for use on a Sony A7R V. Works better than an L bracket and doesn't add much weight. The folding bracket is very convenient.

The folding design was a stroke of genius. This is the first L-bracket that I have had that had such easy access to the side ports and the battery. The side arm swings 270 degrees, so for horizontal shooting, it rests under the base plate. And with a push of a button, it releases so you can unfold it for vertical shooting. Also, I love the battery access design. At first I didn't even see that it opened wider to allow me to change batteries. Everything fits perfectly and I couldn't be happier with any other L-bracket in the world.

I used a previous SmallRig L-brackets on a Sony A7r iii. I liked it very much. My recent purchase is presently on my A7r v and, so far, I love the improvements. In particular, the side folds down, allowing unobstructed access, and a flat-head screw head replaces an Allen socket. A little flat piece for tightening the screw head stores nicely; but, if lost, a flat-head screwdriver is easier to find than a specific size of Allen wrench.

I have a SmallRig (BH #SM3639), and it does not easily attach to my Peak Design tripod in the landscape orientation. Does this bracket have the same issue?

SmallRig Foldable L-Shape Mount Plate for Sony a7R V, a7 IV & a7S III has the same arca dovetail as your current L bracket. Make sure you open the clamps on the Peack Design tripod since this a tighter then standar arca clamps with other brands.

Can I install a Peak Design Capture clip plate on the bottom plate of this L bracket? is this setup working?

Yes, the bottom of the SmallRig Foldable L-Bracket for Sony a7 IV, a7R V & a7S III has a 1/4 inch female thread you can screw the Peak Design Capture clip plate into. Note you will not be able to fold the Smallrig plate.

Yes, but so does every other L bracket. The main difference with this one is that you have the extra step of folding or unfolding the vertical component.

Is the folding L portion stable enough to be used for long exposure astrophotography? Seems like there might be some play in it that won't affect "normal" stuff but might be a problem for 10 stop ND or Astro.

Can this connect with an RS2? If not, what is the solution to vertically mount a Sony A7iv to an RS2?

I recently discovered the left side of the L bracket can slide to the left. This allows more than enough room to open up the port covers. Use a right angle cord and you will have no problem mounting vertically.
