Shimbol MEMORY I Overview

The Memory I 5.5" 4K HDMI Touchscreen Recorder/Monitor from Shimbol enables you to view up to DCI 4K25 input and capture 1080p60 video with an applied 3D LUT. This monitor features a 5.5" 1920 x 1080 touchscreen display, one HDMI 2.0 input, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for outputting embedded audio. Monitor features include 2000 cd/m² brightness, HDR and 3D LUTs, a luma waveform, vectorscope, zoom, focus peaking, and additional display functions.

Recording Monitor
The Memory I monitor enables you to view up to DCI 4K25 video and record 1080p60 video. This monitor supports live LUT applications with the ability to upload and adjust 3D LUTs.
HDMI Input
  • Connect to virtually any camcorder or cine-style camera via the HDMI input.
  • Monitor embedded audio via the 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.
Built-In HDR
The Memory I features built-in HDR compatibility, enabling you to view and capture nuanced footage with a wide dynamic range.
3D LUT Support
Load custom 3D LUTs via the microSD card slot.
Mounting
Mount the Memory I using the bottom 1/4"-20 thread bottom or use the included shoe adapter.
Imaging Features
Imaging functions include:

  • Focus peaking, false color, exposure.
  • Check fields, selectable markers, and RGB adjustments.
  • Zoom, gamma curve selection, and more.
Power Options
Power the Memory I using a Sony L-series type NPF970 battery or input DC power via the barrel port.

No playback through HDMI out and fact that there is no option to time-out graphical buttons that obscure the image (1/10 of screen height) are the main drawbacks. Otherwise cool SD card recorder and cold running device that can have the fan set to auto to make it completely silent.

No, the Shimbol Memory I 5.5" 3D LUT 4K HDMI Touchscreen Recorder/Monitor doesn't have the ability to image flip based on the rotation of the screen's mounting.

Will this record any HDMI video source (like a laptop) or just from a camera?

The Shimbol Memory I 5.5" 3D LUT 4K HDMI Touchscreen Recorder/Monitor is designed primarily to record from cameras; it can record from HDMI sources outputting in compatible frame rates and resolutions. Just note that some sources may not be able to be connected or recorded as the monitor is not HDCP compatible.

The Shimbol Memory I 5.5" 3D LUT 4K HDMI Touchscreen Recorder/Monitor does not offer high quality, quality of color. The cost of such monitor is significantly higher.

No, the power cord is not included. The power options are either using Sony L series batteries such as, Genaray 2 x NP-F770 4400mAh Batteries & 2 x Compact Chargers Kit BH #GENPF770CS • MFR #BCK-2NPF2CH4400, or the DC barrel port.
