This light is manufactured very well... feels very high quality and the light output is very very good, soft, and even. I would absolutely buy this again.
This is a big paragraph, describing a problem that was only deserving of one star loss in my rating.... Everything about this light is perfect EXCEPT, I wish Genaray had invested just a couple more $$ into the user interface. The blister buttons, the labels on the buttons, and the LED window are all low budget. Hopefully the buttons last. The LED window looks and acts like a programmer interface from the 80's. No visual bling at all... just a pale and unevenly lit blue window (very low budget) with utilitarian and sparse text. Again, looks more like something the programmer would see when designing the interface, not the stuff the end user would see. It isn't difficult to figure out how to manage the user interface, but it takes a bit of trial and error since there is literally no work put into making a nice experience... so you have to click around until you see the small indicators in the LED.
All that said, I would still buy these again for the sale price of $199 each.
Excellent light for studio work!

My first impression when I received this light was the build quality - it's superb. Even though I'm very careful with all of my gear there's always something secure about having lights that are made with metal. Even though metal is often heavier, metal last longer and holds up throughout time even if it's being transported from one location to the next on a regular basis.
Here's what stands out to me the most about this light...
- This light is quite powerful for its size
- I love the v-mount ac adapter holder that comes with the light
- The removable barn doors are a welcome bonus
- It actually reaches a 1% dim
- The controls are super simple to use
- Passive cooling
The only thing about this light that disappointed me was that it does not come with a dedicated bag so plan on keeping the box and the foam that comes with it or plan on buying a dedicated bag/case for the light.
I think this light is primed for studio lighting or documentary filmmaking for interviews.
